The Allen Carr book speaks a lot of sense, I thought I still had my copy but think I sold it.
Knew I was going to drink last night, X Factor and two stellas. Again I know it's not much, it's just the words alcohol dependant I don't like. Just want to be a social drinker at most.
I hated the words Alcoholic, Alcohol Dependent, Drunk, P1sshead, and I don't exactly wear a badge with 'Alcoholic and Proud' on it.
However, I needed to admit to myself that I am an alcoholic to recover. If I don't admit it to myself, then I am always going to live in hope that one day I will be able to control my drinking.
For me, I will never become a social drinker. I believe I was born alcoholic, and there is no moderation for me. There never was.
Thus I need to manage my condition as best as possible, and not wish for something that isn't going to happen.
If I could choose, I would choose to be a social drinker. But I don't have that choice. And it is what it is. So I best get on with it, and live my life in the real world (where I am an alcoholic). I used to be full of dreams and fantases, and all of them were getting further away because of my drinking.
Good luck with whatever you decide

Yes Jen, I quit in July 2007 but had lots of wobbles here and there even more recently, which goes to show that you must never become complacent. Can I recommend Allen Carr's (RIP) Easy Way to Stop Smoking. This book will help you tackle the thought process of using having a cigerette as a reward.
Get on over to the other thread and get all the support and advice you need, Sue over there will see you right with lots of help and support, she's the 'thread keeper' lol
Good luck xxyellowmonkey wrote: »Due to rave reviews I am just about to pop my Pork in for a good 6 hours

I am so jealous, I had a craving for it yesterday but thought OH might think me a bit obsessive if I cook it for our 6th consecutive Sunday roast :rotfl: it is my fav though
What shall I have today, can't bear roast chicken, so it's gotta be lamb or beef or maybe turkey?
What's everyone having?
I want pork
Gotta pop out quick in a minute to pick up a couple of things I bought on ebay, 10am she said and she lives next door to Mr T's.....there's plenty of time for me to run in, grab a pork shoulder and do a 6 hour roast.....OH might kill me
What shall I do, got 10 minutes to decide!DFW Nerd no. 496 - Proud to be dealing with my debts!!0 -
