Do you REALLY know your bra size?

No matter how odd or shy you are, local independent shops have seen them all. I just wish someone would invent a front loader that you can adjust at the back before putting on (I cannot put one arm sufficiently far behind me to put bras on properly).
M&S will tell you to fit to the middle hooks.
Any overhang from the sides is usually down to cup size being too small and chances are if you gain or lose weight your cup size will change rather than your basic bra size. Been a 38" for years despite gaining 3 stones in weight, just the cup has got bigger. :rotfl:Truth always poses doubts & questions. Yes, this is true - but most ladies think that the band should get bigger and not the cup and this is why everyone should get fitted more than one.
I too think that a front fasteneing band for larger cup sizes is much needed, I've got a larger sized customer at the moment that is struggling to get into her fitted size so she is having to go up a band size so she can put it on at the front and twist it but because she has limited mobility in her arms cannot get it done up at the back.
I can also understand, because of how the bras are constructed, that it would be difficult to get a good fit using the front fastening bra, but I am not sure what the solution is other than doing as my customer is. I do not like selling bras that are the wrong size, but in this case there is no alternative as the lady cannot get the fitted size done up.0 -

No worries shellie, any independant that stocks Elomi should be able to order them for you.
Fitting will apply the same as any as your size should have settled a fair bit by now so have a look at the fitting rules and then work out what your size should be from there. If you need help then please feel free to post and ask or PM me.
You can get some wired nursing bras now, I personally would not recommend them unless properly fitted as they can trap the milk ducts and cause mastitis if you are in the wrong size, but you can get them.0 -

They've always been the same size. I wouldn't mind if any weight I put on went straight to them.
Have a look at the Atlantis bras LM, there is one that gives 2 cup sizes bigger now - it is outselling all other gel bras. Plus there are bikinis by Atlantis for this year too, you might it makes you feel more confident.
My sister is an A cup (lord knows how I got GG's I am the only one with large boobs) and swears by the Atlantis bras.0 -
Sorry for butting in here ladies, but I'd welcome a little bit of advice.
Some of you lot know me already, but for those who don't, I'm transgender and just starting on hormones and starting to get the resulting growth in the breast area
According to one online calculator, I should be a 44 AA (if such a thing exists) but currently wearing a selection of La Senza XXX Gel Bras 38B as they actually gives the impression of me having more than just poached eggs. The band feels tight without being TIGHT and I can just about fill the cups with the aid of a "chicken fillet"
With the growth thats coming I'm reluctant to get a fitting as its all going to be changing on a regular basis anyway and really I'm too skint to be regularly going out and buying replacements. Just wondering what thoughts you have as to what I should be doing regarding sizing etc...Proud of who, and what, I am. :female::male::cool:0 -
Funny old world when we have small boobs we want larger as we age they get bigger and we want smaller....my bark is worse than my bite!!!!!!!!0

Catflea, I have a lot of TG customers who wear the Atlantis bras.
Have you tried a bra extender to give a little more give if you feel the bra is too tight?
If you are wearing a 38 and are happy with that, stick to a 38. If you feel the 38 is too tight, you will not get a 40 from any range I can think of, so get a bra extender and make it a bit bigger on the back. As I have said before, the guide is just that but you can only find your correct size by trying on. Body fat has a lot to do with the size variation as the bra tend to dig into the body fat and fits closed to the body than people think (sorry if that sounded graphic!!).
If you want to look bigger then go for the Atlantis Dramatic Range as they give 2 extra cup sizes and it'll give you a 38D cup then. You can get those for around £18 each of you shop online but I would just get 3 in black, nude and white, wash & wear and they'll do you for a good 6 months and see if your size has changed much by then.0 -
Thanks for that Blue Monkey,
I'm pretty sure that the 38 is right, it doesn't feel too tight. Just a shame it seemed to be night on impossible to get a 38a last time I went shopping (found a few places now, but reluctant to spend out!)Proud of who, and what, I am. :female::male::cool:0 -
I love Bravissimo
I'm a 32J which is an irritating size! Panache fit me, Freya don't, and there is ONE sports bra that goes up to my size. Luckily it's comfy and I like it but more choice would be good. I horse ride, and go to the gym and I need them under control!
Have just bought bargain summer dress from Bravissimo (£69 down to £20) and it's stunning and actually a bit big on the chest so I am having it altered tomorrow0
