I would be too..............if I was old enough to remember it :o

    music-smiley-013.gif
At first I was afraid, I was petrified,
Thinking I could never live without you by my side,
But then I spent so many nights making meals plans, it's not wrong,
    And I grew strong,
    Without my purse I'll get along........hey hey........It's NSD 5

(Just let me know when you've had enough, bearing in mind there's still 20 days left in the month:o)

Thought I'd have to spend today but circumstances mean it's been put off till tomorrow so I'll try to get the shopping done tomorrow as well :T
Loving the songs, LfV, keep them coming:D:D
*starts humming "seven little girls sitting in the back seat, kissin' & a-huggin' with Fred" car-smiley-003.gif*

I can't stop singing that now!!
Me neither Looloo - so we're both showing our age:rotfl:
ah LFV am i showing my age!!!

O NO now I have I WILL SURVIVE going round in my mind!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    And that one as well:rotfl:

Yay another NSD for me Missy Spoons please :D:D:D I'll have to post this and then check what my signature says as otherwise I'll get it wrong! :(

Edit to add: number 5 for me now - thats more than i thought but then i forgot (again) that i hadn't posted in the first week of Aug so had 3 to update! :o oops!

Welcome Schiff, we're a mad but lovely bunch :) I don't properly support football (not a die hard fan) but do follow my home team which happens to be a relatively unknown team from the north of Scotland who currently sit somewhere in the First Division (shhhhhh!) :D

    I'm a trifle mad myself.

If you don't tell us the name of your team, it will stay relatively unknown even longer.
If it's Ross County, they did win a match last season. I kept the programme. If they never win another match, it will become a collectors' item!

Not sure. First off I'm a bloke. Are blokes allowed? I followed someone onto here actually. As for whetting my appetite, any gathering that could consist of countless beautiful girls is bound to be attractive, so yes. But won't you want to talk about things that I shouldn't listen to?
It's funny, at a social gathering, if I'm sick of listening to Man Utd talk, and join a group of women chatting at another table, they stop talking. No idea why. I hate Man Utd (more so being a Man City fan). Do you know how we refer to them - Manure. It gives a lot of satisfaction that!

I've learned in life that women seem to know more about anything than all blokes put together, so I'm not sure that I will have much to offer, as you may know it already, but I'm willing to have a go.

To introduce myself, I'm unbelievable handsome, exceptionally rich and a consummate liar. First offering:

The following are a waste of money:

    Pasta sauces
    Curry sauces
Spices bought in Tesco, Sainsbury's etc
Expensive cuts of meat, except for a treat.

    This a good money-saving idea:

    Find an ethnic grocer.

I buy all my Basmati rice (bought a 10-kilo bag last time as it was reduced) and all my spices at a Pakistani shop. They stock Tilda, but there is little difference between that and their own once it's cooked and dressed up (more about that later) and their own is cheaper.
The spices come in industrial quantities. Even a reasonably sized bag is big enough to share with friends and family. And these large packs contain about four times what is in a Schwartz jar and are half the price.
They will probably do something that goes under the rather plain name of 'Ground Mixed Spices' - it's all the hot, but not too hot, spices. Again big pack, small price. With that you can create an excellent curry taste for a few pence. More later.

The slow cooker is a wonderful invention. It's the route to inexpensive eating and not going out.
Chicken thighs not breast. I skin them and remove the fat, for health reasons, as I may want to live to 100, though I've not decided yet.
Cheap cuts of beef - brisket, chuck, braising. Once casseroled (recipe idea to come) as tender as fillet and tastier.
Lamb's not cheap but neck is more reasonable and again a superb taste when casseroled.

    More later, if you want.

Blokes are definitely welcome, schiff, talk about Manure is definitely forbidden on here, we talk about all sorts of things, including building work, so a huge variety of topics for you to join in and with the cookery tips you would be very welcome.

Go on, you know you want to join us really:D:D....

    :hello:

    Hi all NSD'ers

Sorry I haven't been around but I would have been rubbish company  Trouble is feeling down has really taken the focus off of not spending and ruined all my organising. The early shifts weren't too bad as I could come home and 'duvet dive' but the lates have been horrid as the house still feels so empty and I have been trying to fill in time that I used to take Orphan out  I have been doing things like 'oh well get petrol today so I can get out of the house' and not planning stuff.

I need to be back in here and focussed so will make more effort :o

Was spendy today as got tobacco for month after taking all Orphan's crates, beds, collars, harnesses etc to Animals in Need, didn't dare go in.........would have wanted to bring all the dogs home. I have a few days off at the end of the month so might get up to Brum to see my mum which will be nice :). I do so want another furry friend just not yet.

Sorry to hear about your mum in law Karen I hope things get better soon.

well done everyone so far, and the songs have really made me grin LfV, thank you :kisses3:

Will be back tomorrow, hopefully with an NSD

(((((((((hugs))))))))))) to all that need them xx

    :hello:

((((hugs)))) Kathy, coming back to an empty house is horrible, I remember it well and also remember finding any excuse to get out of the house:(

Be kind to yourself and allow yourself the odd treat, you're going through a grieving process and need time to recover. Spending some time with your mum would probably do you some good, as would getting away for a few days, not long to go now.

Hope to see you back here tomorrow, we're always here if you need any moral support, chats or the odd giggle.

    ((((hugs))))

Really pleased the builder made a good job of the work, you deserve some good luck for a change, and that you’re happy with the layout, it will definitely be worth it when you’ve got a lovely new kitchen designed and laid out exactly as you want it. Chin up, you’ll get there (and we’re always here to listen to the odd rant or two):T:T

No NSD for me today, had to buy a birthday present, but OH has volunteered to do the grocery shop tomorrow so I might make no 9 with a bit of luck.

Off to do the usual update now, see you all tomorrow.

I was sure I was going to like you, keeping a garage full of mechanics entranced by your beauty. If you'd have said 'I'm not all that keen on football actually' - that would have been enough.
You can blame my SIL for the S-H-one-T-ball bit - she always used to ask if DH was down the pub watching that (spelt out just like I type it) when she phoned during 'the season' ;)
Where can you buy Paton & Baldwins 3-ply dirt cheap?
Are you good at darning socks?
No idea - that was always my Mum's area
And broken/replacement zips always went to my Dad

I've started to get around that one by cooking at least one batch of Twinks a week

Only problem is that I'd previously given up biscuits almost completely ;)

Still, OH seems to appreciate having them taken up at the weekend..... Just need to decide what flavour I'm making tomorrow morning now, as I have the 'makings' of several (ginger, mixed nut, cherry and coconut, cherry and almond, mango, raisin, mixed fruit - and I'm sure I've more suitable bits and bobs in my kitchen cupboards if I pull stuff out to get to the back rolleyes2.gif)

((((((((((((Big Hugs)))))))))))) Kathy, it's really good to see you back, & you are so brave. I think it's only natural that you need a few spendy days, but from the sounds of it you haven't bought rubbish, just spread your spends out, & if that's what you needed to do to cope with this difficult time, then please don't beat yourself up about it, you will get back on track when you feel ready.
Hope you enjoy your few days away!

BDINI - sounds like you are going great guns with your DIY...we tend to be soo much slower round here...determined to get a unit in my shed washed and sanded down tomorrow so I can start painting it tomorrow afternoon...now that would be great. Still waiting for a quote to get our cooker hood installed (need to drill through awkward-shaped chimney flue, so an expert required, rather than DH, who has done pretty well everything else :D)...it's taken us a ear to get this far!! Hey hoh, I suppose I have had the excuse of being ill all of last year and now this year getting back to work has taken a lot out of me...but determined to get more done while it's still warm (and dry!!)...watch this space!

Keiss, sounds like you're making a real inroad into your jobs too, slow & steady is good (sometimes wish i had that luxury), because at least you know everything has been done thoroughly!!! Good luck with the cooker hood!!!
