It is surprising just how resourceful you can be when you have to & let's face it, this is the ideal place [poota-wise] to find all the hints & tips you didn't know you needed
Plus you have a couple of weeks to gather some stores around you to help take the pressure off the food bill at least. Give us a holler when you're in the mood to think aloud & we'll have a brain-storming sesh to see what we can come up with x

....looked into sickness cover, and the best we could find costs £35 pm and only kicks in if he's off for 8 weeks....
Hopping to hear about the new modem today but a week in & it's not looking good  but that's another story. It is slightly sweetened by reaching Target & now on No 17 :j I could possibly get another 3...aww g-won then..put me down for 20 please Spoon.

Morning All
Good idea BigMumma, I had a pension quote for a pension and if I saved 3% of my salary and the company saved 3% of my salary (which is quite substantial) I'd get £1000 when I retire in 10 years time. I looked at this and thought, rubbish and and that £1000 is not even guaranteed, so its under the bed for me (well a wee account on the net actually) No idea how they work out these figures but they need to enter into the real world and have a look at their costs and commissions, somebody's making money here but it ain't the end user, that is for sure.
Thank you Keiss, Hubert will be delighted to contribute to all of your heaps and could probably start another one for you, such a relief to be able to come out on a Saturday night without the shovel........

[QUOTE=BigMummaF;35993537Thinking aloud again folks..what about opening a savings a/c & putting that £35 a month into that? Of course it would take a lot of determination to not dip into the pot for anything other than intended but with the scary Benefits rejig on the cards, I think it's something we all need to consider

Great idea BigMumma, at least the money would be under your control and not the fund administrator and you could move it around according to interest rates.
I'm with you on the pension thing, dopey, I have a pension from my last job that I paid into for nearly 20 years. It wasn't doing too badly until last year when it lost nearly half its value due to share values tumbling and there's nothing I can do about it. Can't move it around (not allowed to) can't transfer it (not allowed to do that either), have to leave it until I'm at least 60 and hope it doesn't disappear altogether:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:pure_dead_dopey wrote: »Trying hard to-day but working late, its all a bit of a *&%£**%
Sorry everyone rant over. I'll be back later in a better mood, promise

Here ya go!!
These ones are my favourite... I buy them for christmas presents for my family back in NZ and they love them. I love them too, but they're so expensive that they're only a yearly treat for myself! £11 for a pack of 7 from selfridges... go figure!
I guess that's what you pay when you buy something that's been commissioned by The Queen
The mint ones are okay but I like the pink champagne ones. You're spelling is effecting me so much. Im trying not to be phased by it but your all making me loose my mind on mass!! My head is loosing it's hair. I'm going to take myself off the electoral role like I should of done ages ago and move to the Caribean. I already brought my plane ticket, all be it a refundable 1.0 -
solventsoon wrote: »nzseries1: oh dear to falling off the bandwagon, you were doing really well. Never mind, there’s always next month;)
You're right - there is always next month.
No bank holidays in September, and I know that I could have made my target this month if I planned a bit better. So I'm going to go for 14 next month, one less than this month, but that's because next month has one less day
Good luck to everyone else... I think I can safely say that I won't be getting any more than 9 out of 15 this month!Maybe one more if I'm lucky the day after the bank holiday (31st).
