You seem to be saying that a vulnerable client can ask not to be put on the LRS database but - if they trash a LL's property, for example - the LL is at liberty to upload their info. Or was that not what you meant?0 -
I have just been on the phone to ICO who have asked me to write in with full details as they want to look into it further.
They have also asked for any information from this thread from the company in question to support my concerns.
I have to pop out, so if anyone is about that could go through the thread and screenshot their posts just incase they are removed by themselves, it would be appreciated and i will put my complaint in writing to the ICO when i get home.0 -

Next time it broke, I paid for it myself. I was very ill and off sick, so I had to pay my rent a week late, as I was only getting about £65 SSP a week. He phoned me threatening to come and throw me and all my possessions out on the street if it ever happened again.'
If you were in this situation or one similar whereby you felt your current landlord would not give you a good reference, when applying for a new tenancy somewhere else, would you have told them the situation you were in or would you have lied and told them that you have no landlord?
I did tell the next LL what happened. And of course, I had paperwork to back up my side of the story, in the form of lawyer's letters, copies of my letters to old LL, and his (bizarre) replies, and letters from the council. Plus my notice to quit, which was from administrators as old LL went bankrupt.
New LL was offered paperwork, but declined to see it. Never atually met new LL as he didn't live near me. But his agent knew me in a work capacity (I used to be a Bank Officer).
Of course, if I discovered old LL had slandered/libelled me, I would have had enough evidence to sue, not that that would be likely to stop him, going on past history.
Ali, thanks for clearing that up.0 -

this is really unfair... LRS have come here to explain their business, in some detail over a prolonged period, and with great transparency - and yet you accuse them of considering wiping their posts ?? They are a professional organisation....
Shame on you
Maybe we should all wait and see what the Data commissioners have to say when/if Lynzpower comes back .......
it seems odd that she has not.. she did feel very passionately......0 -

So if you have told your new landlord (or potentially new landlord) your situation they would have no reason to do a search surely? But even if they did decide to anyway and then your previous crappy landlord has listed you on there all that would do is confirm your story and confirm that you have not been lying about who your previous landlord was. It also would mean that your new landlord could tell the site that this previous landlord has listed you unfairly and they have said that this is grounds for the landlord to be banned from the site.
It just seems to me that as long as you tell the truth nobody would ever really have a reason to search you. If this is how it works then it will only ever catch the liars...and that works for me as I would never lie to a potential landlord – but then I have no reason to.
I see what you mean, however, if a T in that situation for some reason didn't have evidence to support their side of the story, it would then be their word against the old LLs.
The point is, I don't see why I should be having to worry about all this stuff.
I an actually see a better solution for everyone concerned, which would involve a tenancy being treated in a similar way to a mortgage or loan. If a tenancy was given as a credit agreement, then it could be recorded with the credit reference agencies. Good Ts would be able to prove they pay their rent. Bad ones could have defaults and CCJs recorded against them.
This would have the added bonus of LAs/LLs being regulated by the FSA - a win/win situation IMHO.0 -
You may not have noticed but nearly every post they have written on that thread has been edited at some point hence why i wrote what i did.
There are no cross referencing done on the site when people register i have registered with fake details and have been assigned my membership number and been sent details of tenants which to me says that what they are saying is a load of blatent lies.
I spoke to ICO earlier today and explained to them what had been said on this thread and the questions that it asks and they agreed that it needed further investigation by them as it does not seem to abide by regulations.
Ali Pasaul You really should take more care in replying, you clearly cant read to start with nor spell on the other matter, why on earth should i be able to trust someone like you that cannot spell reasonably simple words without making mistakes. Who says you are not going to make a mistake with my details or anybody elses details at that?
You are clearly a highly presumptuous person, and you have made presumptions about myself which couldn't be further from the truth. I have always been a good tenant, rent paid on time and in full, properties left in a better condition than what they were rented to me in so i find your presumptions rude. And for your information my last landlord is still my current landlord so i really do think you should think more carefully before you write anything further detrimental about myself.
I will be taking this further with ICO as you dont have any right to hold details about me without my express permission you have still failed to answer the question I set to you previously about landlords being deemed under your terms & conditions to upload ALL tenants, which means they could do so without my express permission.0 -
I couldn't care less if it is an imprisonable offence to be honest!
I did it so that i could see how easy it was to access the information i could do it with putting in fake details which means anybody could do it.
Which means that my ex partner could easily register and obtain details of the area that i am living in should they be entered into the database anywhere.0 -

I have no intention of reading anymore of your rubbish, your story changes with every breath one minute you are the subject of DV and having to move around and don’t want to be traced and now your last landlord is still your current landlord who you don’t want to tell of your demise even though you were subjected to abuse just 2 weeks ago What!!
With regards to your membership you have not received any search information on tenants and you well know it and the only person you could be is sitting in lRS quarantine area to confirm you are who you say you are.
Bye bye
Yes my previous landlord is my current landlord because i moved into another one of his properties.
My landlord is well aware of the circumstances, my point was why should i have to tell any prospective landlord?
And that is where you are wrong because I HAVE received details, which means that you obviously don't have a clue who i am! Which doesn't surprise me seeing as being a landlord is unregulated, you have no way of checking who a landlord is and therefore you could be giving information out to anyone.0 -
