Try and breathe slowly and answer this question, with thought:
Why, if you are so honest and apparent, does the site not list its address and contact details?0 -
the thing about this site Ali is that a few hardened tenants want the whole world to think that all landlords are barstewards and they devote their lives to painting the blackest possible picture of us....
when National Landlords Association came here to post, to try to put forward some good ideas as to how landlords and tenants could compromise and reach solutions to difficulties... these ranters got NLA banned as well....
maybe the word Democratic only applies to tenants and not landlords....
Individual posters can't "get people banned" - that's a decision taken by the forum admin folk and to be fair there is a big green bar up at the top with the forum rules.
It can be disappointing to have your posts wiped out by a forum administrator, but most people get over it.
You refer to ranters and yet a couple of your posts on here are themselves absolute rants. Its not personal, Clutton, when someone disagrees with your *views* - please stop making it out that it is.
Ranters?
hysterical?
landlord bashers? On this forum, i often read of "demands" of tenants and "rights" of tenants.... and yet landlords' rights are rarely recognised as being in existence let along being acknowledged as the other side of a democratic coin... (with the exception of our great barrister who is thankfully back posting again)
LLs who post of difficulties generally get pretty good responses, in much the same way that Ts do, despite the fact that it is a consumer website and those of us who are LLs are not the consumer within the business relationship.ti will continue to support this website until such time as the Data Commissoiners say it is breaking the law.....0 -

I spoke to the Landlord and was also put in touch with the previous Landlord to find the tenant had done it to them too - clearly a serial swindler and I was saved by LRS. THANK YOU. All you people who doubt or worry about the excellent service that is being supplied must surely have their own hidden agendas and I am right behind Clutton. Why dont you go on to their site and contact them with your worries and stop hiding behind forums like this?
my.....:T you have timed that very well...unless you own the site?
i do not believe you...It is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.0 -
""I suppose I could have been told what they thought I wanted to hear! ""

how very sad if you do.......0 -

So, are you happy that Tesco has your personal data ?
the government ?
banks ?
why is it just landlords who are assumed to be stealers of data and identities......
Data creep and consolidation is something I'm concerned about in general. That's one reason I was against the proposed ID cards scheme, for example.
I choose not to have club cards and so forth, too, as I don't choose to hand over that type of information either.
The problem I see with this website is firstly general data creep, and secondly I trust LLs who are private individuals less than banks etc who are not.
I certainly don't think all LLs are nasty or anything. My own LL is a great example of the breed, and we cough up regularly. We've lived here a while, and have a perfect mutual arrangement - we sort out small problems, and organise the gas cert / boiler service etc, and we pay a lower than market rent. Everyone's happy. We have a place to live, LL has regular rent, no voids, and less hassle....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -
Frighteningly - 11 years later - my current LA who have the misfortune to rent from, insisted on the deposit is cash, and the first months rent in cash, and when i asked for a receipt he said " i dont have any paper" - in spite of having a clipboard full of the stuff in his hand.... I did not let go of the dosh till he wrote out a receipt.....
Did he really think you'd hand over such a wedge (deposit and month's rent must have been quite a bit) without anything at all?...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -
and more and more landlords are being let down and stolen from and having property damaged.....
..
Is there anything empirical to suggest increased theft and damage suffered by LLs?...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -
That's one of hte points of those schemes, to gather together such info. I choose not to be gathered in....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0

NLA do quarterly surveys on rent arrears, possession cases, LHA clients, and other current issues.. they publish the results
Certainly since LHA went directly to clients, arrears have shot up......
I believe Julie Rugg also found a significant increase in rent arrears also
""Did he really think you'd hand over such a wedge (deposit and month's rent must have been quite a bit) without anything at all? " - yes he did - hes an arrogant plonker....0
