It's extremely unlikely you'll get any money back, but I guess it never hurts to ask. It's also unlikely the staff knew of the reduction beforehand as the tickets are printed each morning and then put on display.

Bought in a shop, similiar name to a spicey meal...The same TV iwas being sold for £499 at Dixons but online. I did ask the salesman if they could match this price seeing as it is part of the same company. He said that they could not. Now they are beating it!
Same company, yes, but Dixons is the internet-only arm - they have lower operating costs due to being web-based, so can price themselves a little lower. You can't expect the internet low-frills price in the 20000sqft superstore...

If the price went down, it could be that they sourced a bulk order at a reduced price or bought stock up after a company went bust.

What I mean to say is... it might not be the big conspiracy you think it is.
Nothing I say represents any past, present or future employer.

    Why do people to this?

You do know that Currys aren't going to come and pee through your letterbox if you slag them off don't you?

Hi, I bought a TV last saturday (24 July) from a major electrical retailer. It was £699 but they reduced it to £599 if I gave an old TV as part exchange. Then all of a sudden it is now reduced to £479 in a sale just after I bought it! Surely the staff new this was about to happen..Is it tough s**t or have I got any grounds to complain and get some money back?

very rarely the normal foot soldier staff wont know when a tv or any other electrical item will be reduced in price until the first time it went through the till, where ive worked before we didnt know of any price reductions until the day when products were reduced

Even if the salesman did know, why would he tell you if he felt he could get a sale at full price?

He's got bills just like you have.

    Of...course not *shifty eyes*

You should be able to do a price match - although I think the wording of the price promise means that they don't have to match their own prices (if that makes sense). But anyone who's nice enough would probably do it.

And I only found out it was going down to £479 the day before it went down (28th). Great deal though.

exactly, the staff arent obliged to tell you when it will be reduced, they most likely get commission from sales they make

I would tell them if I knew, purely on the fact I would feel really guilty i I knew the next day they could save £100
