I signed my son up this evening for a 24 month deal on-line, and paid for the phone with my credit card, and signed up my sons bank details for direct debit. A short time later my son got a phone call back refusing the contract as he has no credit rating, he's just left full time education (18) and in full time work but since he has no credit rating, so they cancelled his order. Well due to their attitude, I will be cancelling my long standing mobile phone contract with them and going else where next month  T-Mobile the company that doesn't care :mad:0

What makes its overated and overed hyped?
lets see...the 'revolutionary' features of the iphone 4
(limited) multitasking
video calling, but only to other iphones
copy and paste
no flash
folders
to name 5...which are so revolutionary that they have been around for years from other manufactures
also
there is the non removable battery
non expandable memory
only able to download from itunes etc etc
No denying it looks lovely, and does what it does very well. But an iphone doesn't do anything that other smartphones don't do, and often for a considerably longer time, but the marketing men would have you believe apple invented and pioneered the smartphone, when in fact they are playing catch up, all be with a well designed, pleasing to the eye interface
the only thing I will concede is the multitap, and pinch to zoom etc. That did raise the bar, but there is little or nothing else that did with the iphone.
And of course there is a premium to pay for having an iphone. It's not cheap, and you're not going to easily persuade your network to give it to you for 'free' without having a big monthly billbingy_burge wrote: »3 million + people must be wrong.
Enjoy not being an iphone user and if you can't bring anything to thread rather than negative remarks about a product millions of people like then why bother posting?
I only said that i couldn't get excited about iphones, and that they were over rated. hardly the most savaging criticism. But then It's very easy to wind up apple fanboys
To the op, i hope you enjoy your new phone. Just because i don't want or like iphones. Doesn't mean the 3 million people quoted above shouldn't0 -
I am in the Middle East and a local friend has asked me to buy him one of these in the UK as they are much cheaper.
He wants the 32gb and un-locked. I've checked online and the Apple site does them at 599 pounds (with a 3 week wait). Does anywhere in the high street sell these over the counter?Marching On Together

Sing with me Kai: If you don't want an iPhone 4..... (clicky)In the beginning, the universe was created. This made a lot of people very angry and was widely regarded as a bad move. The late, great, Douglas Adams.0 -

Apple are the only ones selling the iPhone 4 without a contract and sim free. You would need to go to an Apple Store or order it online. In the beginning, the universe was created. This made a lot of people very angry and was widely regarded as a bad move. The late, great, Douglas Adams.0 -

Its a bit tough as when I was 18 I strolled in orange and took out a phone no probs.
I know they have got tighter in recent years. Some other networks ask for deposits, friend of mine went to go on 3 a few years ago and the wanted £150 up front when they where 18.
Your son needs to get a small o/d with the bank on a adult acc and start building a good credit rating.
It does work both ways if he tucked him into a £75 a month contract for 24 months some parents would ring up moaning he is only 18 blah blah.0 -
i agree with kai666, im yet to see anything NEW and WORTH the ridiculous HIGH price, with iphone that others cant do.
people blindy rave about the iphone without research. once you research smartphones you will realise just how BEHIND and overpriced iphones really r.0
