    I heard that too MothballsWallet,

It's supposed to be an adjustment of "levels" rather than the actual "volume" as such.

The other night ITV3 had one advert at full volume ,then the next whisper quiet, then loud, quiet.
This went on for an hour or so until I had enough and changed channels.Quality TV at its best.
  • Internet adverts are even more annoying! The loud, musical ones will often play as soon as they come on the screen, without giving you the choice of whether you'd like to listen to them or not. If you have your volume quite high or are concentrating on reading something, they can make you jump. It's even worse if you're watching films online. You'll be enjoying a movie and suddenly be blasted with loud, dramatic war movie music from some ridiculous advert that has appeared. Even worse is the fact that Internet ads often cycle. If you're unlucky, you'll get a few musical ones in a row. There's an extremely annoying one that I've encountered recently, which features a bunch of people singing a song with their heads in 4 boxes. When my movie was interrupted by these !!!!!! I wanted to strangle them!

From the link that someone provided about ITV ad's (http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-1251583/ITV-finally-censured-turning-volume-ads-annoyance-millions.html#ixzz0vBcqHxlZ)

"He claimed the scenes where characters shouted, although short, were as loud as the loudest parts of the adverts."

So its ok for ad's to shout at us?"

Although i may be biased as i dont like voices being raised even in person
You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride

Anyways OP enable volume levelling or similar.

Two things that annoy me are programmes which go to an ad break after only 5 mins and films and sometimes other programmes which stop at an inappropriate moment for a scheduled ad break.

Also the fact that a few years ago there were only 3 ad breaks per hour, there are now 4.
If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales

Haha. I suppose I'm willing to endure the odd interruption in exchange for the privilege of watching new movies in DVD quality in the comfort of my home, with my drink and snacks of choice.

I think the worst type (especially in this age of FULL DIGITAL SURROUND SOUND DOLBY PRO LOGIC 8 CHANNEL WITH SUB AND A SESAME SEED BUN) is the action scenes or dramatic scenes blasting out at full blast, whilst the actors dialogue is so low as to be whispers, no matter how much you try to adjust the settings, there is nothing you can do to solve it, short of constantly turning the volume up and down.

I hate them too. Sometimes it's really hard to see where the mute button is too.
Here I go again on my own....

I have this exact same problem when I'm watching Blu-rays. It really pulls me out of the movie when I'm having to constantly adjust the volume. The speech is quite low yet the explosions sound like an earthquake!
