Daddy Long Legs have a very short life span - so don't be murdering them any sooner than their natural time. :(

And Daddy Long Legs (CraneFlys) are not posionous nor venomous - its an old Uban Myth - British people getting mixed up with the Daddy Long Legs SPIDER that roams in Australia.

So all you scardy cats are safe. :T
  • That doesnt excuse the fact that I am VERY scared of them! Even if they are harmles they buzz they have long legs and they fly - I am getting goose bumps just thinking about them!

I can deal with spiders because I just run away!

Is there no deterent or such?

I am scared to death of them too.

Other than make sure you keep the windows and doors closed, I don't think there is much you can do.

  • They certainly do have their uses. Couldn't get my 3yo daughter out of the bath yesterday for love or money until a great big daddy long legs conveniently flew into the bathroom. Blimey, nobody's ever seen her move so fast!! :rotfl:
  • if you let them settle on the walls then grab them quickly but gently (a sort of 'loose fist' approach you can put them out the window. recently my first task of the day, yesterday 25 were in the bathroom today 32!--mental note to self shut the bathroom window before going to sleep!!!

They're supposed to be the most venomous creature on the planet (in relation to their size, I think), but Mother Nature forgot to give them fangs to inject the venom with! :rotfl:
