  • I hate it when they start mating on the window while I'm having breakfast. I must be a real prude or something, but it just creeps me out.

i know what you mean, I hate spiders Daddy log legs and anything else like that.

I was staying in a hotel with work once by myself. I had just checked into the room and was about to unpack when I saw the HUUUUGGGGEEE spider on the wall. I didn't know what to do with myself so I phoned reception and asked someone to come and get it. I literally sat and watched it (in case it ran and hid) until the porter came to move it. I would have asked to change rooms if it had moved before the porter arrived. There would have been no way I could have stayed in the room. :o
  • Squeamish people - DO NOT READ!!!

We had an "infestation problem" this Spring - our lawn and driveway were a SEETHING MASS of leather jacket grubs!!! I kid you not, every morning for about three weeks, we were sweeping up A WHEELBARROW FULL of the revolting, slimy, fat, slimy (not so little) little things! There is a gully which runs in front of our gaage - if you lifted off the grate that covered it, the whole gully was a seething, six inch deep mass EVERY DAY FOR THREE WEEKS!

My husband said it was like the movie Critters - and that, underneath the lawn, the size of a double decker bus, the "Mummy" was probably lurking!!

We had the council pest control department round and they said that they had never seen anything like it - but were no help whatsoever! We have to reat the lawn this autumn to kill the little blighters (apparently, in Spring, the leather jacket skin is too thick for insecticides to penetrate).

And, at the moment, the lawn is alive with Daddy Longlegs which is not pleasant, but infinitely preferable to their predecessors!

Just thought I'd share that with you - it might make you feel a little better about the minor problem of Daddy Longlegs!

    I've been Money Tipped!
They're supposed to be the most venomous creature on the planet (in relation to their size, I think), but Mother Nature forgot to give them fangs to inject the venom with! :rotfl:

  • Lynzpower - try starting every day in your wellies and dressing gown sweeping up leather jackets - especially when the odd one or two fall off the shovel into your wellie!_pale_
