It is usually the role of the BUYERS solicitor to register the sale and change of owner at the Land Registry. It may not occur until a couple or more weeks later whilst the final fees are calculated and invoice provided.
If the sale is mortgage free and deeds are present these are also passed over at the same time (mortgaged and the lender holds the deeds). If there are no deeds and for older properties this may well be the case it is the entry on the LR document that proves title (although some will dispute that it does but it can be challenged in a court).0 -

Hope you come to terms with it.
There are too many posts for me to read what everyone else has said but hopefully this makes sense.

I'm the first in the queue to tell people when they're being muppets, don't worry. And you aren't.
Get some sleep. This is only money. I know it's very important, particularly in your personal circumstances, but so is your health. Have a hot bath, and go to bed!...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -
OP, you might want to consider phoning (or getting someobdy else to phone) the EA and Property-buying company, and casually asking to speak to the person named on the LR documents as having purchased your property."You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0

This sounds more and more like organised fraud. The solicitor seems to be in on it, confusing you with lots of forms and not giving you the time to read them. I hope he gets the book thrown at him for this. I wonder how many more people he has conned this way.0 -
just to let everyone know i have an appointment with new solicitor next thursday, and i have recieved forms from land registry to start investigation, i will let you know the outcome, so bye for now0

Good Luck Suzanne, I hope you get it sorted, and at least get some answers.
One thing I dont understand, and forgive me for asking, but you say the property was mortgage free, but you only walked away with circa 30k?Pawpurrs x0 -
