... big pasta shells to fill for a stuffed Philadelphia recipe ...
Sounds like it could be a nice recipe NickJW, any chance of posting it on here?
I'm in a bit of pain at the moment, because like an idiot I rubbed my eyes after cutting onions, which wouldn't have been QUITE as bad if I hadn't have chopped a red chilli up before! My eyelid is red raw, and I've tried rinsing it with water. This didn't work so I've plastered camomile lotion over my eyelid. ...
Loads of cold water to flush it out and you could try putting refrigerated sliced cucumber on to cool it if you've got the time.
By the way, for anyone really, if you have an abrasion/cut/bite we use our own 'thyme tea' to cool, soothe and aid the healing process (not sure about on the eye though Nick!). Cut a few good sprigs of thyme, one or two leaves of sage (if you've got it), a couple of sprigs of lavender (if you've got it). Put in a cup and pour boiling water over as if you were making a cup of tea. Leave to stew (sorry distil) until cool. You can then strain it or just pour straight into a clean jar and keep sealed in the fridge (we would keep for about a week or until wound healed). Dab it onto any wounds and leave it to dry on its own. Tickles like anything when its drying but is amazing at quickening the healing process and is mildly disinfectant.
A friend of ours introduced us to it when OH had a nasty horsefly bite years ago (he thought he had necrotising fassiitis/flesh eating disease! :rotfl:) and it worked a treat. DD used to use it on her horses too for bot (sp?) fly bites.
Hope that helps someone and your eye gets better soon NickJW,
Spigs
PS I think the Mint Ice cream is in the list on the first page brodie1.Mortgage Free October 2013 :T0 -
Just popping in to declare, although I seem to have been missed off the August list anyway.
Can I declare $325.12 against a budget of $240.00, so thats a whopping 135% of my original budget
Thanks

Thanks Spiggle! It's calmed down a bit now, but boy did that hurt! I have to say I'm pretty rubbish at having those sort of things in the house...I'm so glad camomile and water worked!
I haven't done the Philadelphia pasta shell recipe yet, so I don't feel right posting it at the moment - if, when I have it on Monday it's nice I'll definately shareGrocery Challenge Jan 24 0/300

£2.57 spent today - needed to go to a larger Mr T a bit further away to get some big pasta shells to fill for a stuffed Philadelphia recipe (I have a pack in the fridge from a BOGOF and need to find a way to use it up!), because Mr S doesn't have them. Got some other things as well and updated signature
Cooking the Chinese stew now - well, I've prepared it and it's slow cooking for 2 and half hours
Just one more spend needed tomorrow and then I'll declare my budget - I know I'm over budget but I'm happy with what I've spent because I haven't been wasteful at all.

My eyelid is red raw, and I've tried rinsing it with water. This didn't work so I've plastered camomile lotion over my eyelid. I look quite a sight...NOT! I guess I should be thankful I'm not planning on going out tonight (that's saved until tomorrow)...I would have cancelled if I was...NO-ONE is going to see me like this. :rotfl:
I hope everyone is enjoying the bank holiday weekend - the weather isn't that great, but isn't it nice just to have an extra day off
I have 2 ways of chopping chillies.
The first is: Get a pair of scissors and chop directly over the pan you are going to coook in.
Second: Wear disposable gloves-like you get in a box of hair dye-or put a polythene bag over the hand you are going to pick up the chilli with. Could even wrap yourself in clingfilm if needed!
Personally I preferer the first method.Annual Grocery budget 2018 is £1500 pa £125 calendar month £28.84 pw for 3 adults0 -

Hi everyone,
I am declaring August at £181.10, so a little over budget, but I'm not going to get stressed about it. Today i've done lots of shopping in Morrisons and Sainsburys, and managed to spend 73p! I thought I would use up the £53 of nectar points, and the £20 of morrisons vouchers I had. It was a lovely feeling, filling the trolley, knowing it wasn't "real money" I was spending!!
Really wanted to fill the cupboards up with tinned and dried stuff, and some cleaning/washing things, a lot of this will keep me going well into next year. I have £30 of Tesco vouchers left, so I think I am going to stock up on cat food, and some bits for the freezer, later in the week.
I tried a new recipe for tea, cheesy bean burgers - really nice, even OH said they were nice, and that is quite unheard of!!
I would like to go for £175 for September, see you on the September thread x2025 G/C Jan £264.82, Feb £249.68. Mar £372.66. Apr. £326.19. May £321.01. June £296.18 July £373.26. August £74.52. Nectar - Morrison’s - £ £ Boots - £3.63 Asda Rewards - £ Tesco - £0 -
Popped in Co-op for my "weekly" shop(I hope) and got 3 x 1kg bags of pasta dfor just 50p each-damaged ones. That will keep me going for a while!
Also got some clearance cat food-Felix cod variety if anyone wants to look for the same.
Book dh some beer as promised and got the "sun" which as a £5 New look voucer in it. Got some more dried peas, tinned toms and some onions and carrots and a few other necessities. Total came to £38.80
They have loo rolls pack of 9 for £2.50 so I had 2 packs. £17.60 of my spend was grocery but non food which means my real food spend was just £21.21 which is not a lot! Just tubbed up the remaining curry and the spicy pea soup I made today to pop in the freezer.Annual Grocery budget 2018 is £1500 pa £125 calendar month £28.84 pw for 3 adults0
