Oh no! Our first month doing the GC. Went over our budget and that's not counting eating out, which we have done a lot of this month, having been away and having had 2 lots of guests to stay. But guests are expensive on groceries too cos you can't skip meals or just have a bit of bread n cheese when you've got guests!
Have learnt a lot by keeping receipts tho and I think OH has got the hang of it too. btw a small tip if you, like me, tend to forget about the GC - firefox allows you to set multiple home pages, I just included the GC as one of them (rather late in the day, it must be said) and that reminded me every day. You probably all do that already!
Am about to change sig - £617 to date. Boo.0 -

Well done to all those declaring for August. I think it's an achievement to have kept tracking all month even if the total is more than you would like.Household: Laura + William-cat

hi all, £3.89 to add to the total all spent on chocolate and snacks0

I declare for August at €458, which is well over the initial budget. However, I am not too disheartened for a few reasons:
1. I had to use more convenience things due to DH 's accident and deal with changing plans for visitors etc
2. We DID have our neighbours in yesterday, which I had forgotten to budget for and which had changed into a "finger foods from the oven" rather than the BBQ I had been planning, so that cost a bit more.
3. The M&S dine in offer was on, so we got the wine for the gathering there (I bought 2 dinners, which we will use during the week, and an extra 4 bottles of the same wine which meant I got the 25% off the wine as WELL as the discount on the meals).
4. I had planned certain dinners at the start of the month that were not realistic once DH had his accident, so the ingredients I had bought are mostly in the freezer (I had to throw out one ball of mozarella and a block of feta as I couldn't use those in time - so I DID waste about €5 on those).
5. DD was starting a new creche and we were unsure what was provided or not in terms of food, so I had bought in what she used in the old creche, with a little extra, and she doesn't need those now until school as the new creche provides all snacks as well as dinners.l
The fridge is full though, and I have dinners for this week planned better. We didn't use as much alcohol yesterday as I thought I would, so I am well stocked until at least Halloween. I am starting back to dinners full of veg this week too, to build us up again and as the weather chills too.GC 2010 €6,000/ €5,897
