Thanks for all your lovely posts. I'm having a full blood count done tomorrow, together with a Thyroid function test and a couple of others that I can't remember.

He's also doing blood pressure as it was high today (he was thinking about putting me on the pill as a temp measure) probably because I was so beside myself.

Anyway, had a long talk to DH tonight about how I feel that for several days a month I feel I let the whole family down (get migranes at various parts of my cycle) and he's been really reassuring but just worried about me.

Decided that I'll try to get back to work tomorrow, depending on how I am and will be vague but honest. If he wants more info he can ask!

Thanks all it really is good to know I'm not the only one.

make sure you ask them to check your von willibrand factor, i think its a seperate blood test (but woundlt really know as they always take 9 vials at a time off me!!)

heres a bit of info: http://www.bbc.co.uk/health/ask_the_doctor/vonwillebrand.shtml

good luck and if your boss squirms then thats his immaturity, a womb is just like any other body part :)

  • hi there,

i hope you got everything sorted with your boss re being off work that day.

i tried for years to get various GPs to do something about my terrible period pain and other probs and i'm hoping to save you and others going thru the same thing.

i finally came to the conclusion that western medecine has very little to offer - other than strong painkillers (bad news for the kidneys which struggle to get rid of the drugs); the pill (bad news for the liver which struggles to get rid of the fake hormones) or invasive tests and surgery - or REALLY unhelpful advice like "it'll all get better once you have a baby"!

i have found that both homeopathy and naturopathy have offered solutions that work AND don't harm my body in the long-term.

the NHS has a scheme whereby your GP's practise can pay for you to see a complementary medicine practioner of your choice - my mum's been seeing a homeopath for years via this method. my GP isn't sympathetic, so i'm paying to see a naturopath - but it's really, really, really worth the money.

it's possible homeopathy and naturopathy seem weird and wacky, but seeing as western medicine (IMHO) only has the three options mentioned above - and these reduce the symptons, but don't tackle the cause - what does one have to lose?

i really hope my message has been helpful and i'm not sticking my nose in where it's not wanted, but this is something i feel passionate about and i really hope it can be useful to you and others
Boyfriend & I have saved £12K in two years, thanks to careful budgeting and keeping a record of what we spend. I've never paid myself this amount of money before - it feels great!
