He then should have taken up his dispute by writing to Ryanair afterwards. But no, he created a scene and yet again more sensationalist writing puts Ryanair in the wrong and the big bad guy.
Thats very funny have you ever read their press? Easier to get blood from a stone.I am NOT a mortgage & insurance adviser - or anything to do with finance, that was put on by the new system I dont know why?!0 -

Boot meal deals also include the larger 750ml/1 litre of bottled water which is good for airline dehydration (not very MSE, I hear you say, but Man Airport tap water tastes gritty/tinny).
Recommended choice: Chicken and Bacon from Boots. Missus has the salad or pasta pots, which she gives the thumbs up.--- Warning: Grumpy Old Man in Training ---0 -

Man arrested after being abusive to Ryanair staff just wouldn't make a good story, I suppose
Maybe not, but this is a site that sells itself on being "impartial" and "balanced".
Then again, it's not difficult to find examples within this site where that mantra isn't followed.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
i openly admit the sandwich i bought on a meal deal at boots at manchester airport was a whole lot nicer than the ''food'' provided in flight by thomas cook
when we got delayed overnight we were given a ''light meal'' which was a hamster sized portion of cold burger and cold chips, i nearly went looking for an all night petrol station to feed myself lolWho remembers when X Factor was just Roman suncream?0 -
I'm amazed at some of the responses in this thread saying he should have paid up on the basis that he had the item, even if it was inedible.
Is this a manifestation of the British reluctance to complain when food is bad? I've been with people in restaurants who'll shove aside a £15 main course which is badly cooked rather than 'make a fuss'. It's ridiculous.
For the record, I've complained about a sandwich I bought on a 3-hr Virgin train journey which was absolutely disgusting and was refunded without a quibble. If I was on a Ryanair flight and bought a sandwich which was sub-standard I would also refuse to pay (or demand a refund if I already had paid), why wouldn't you? By doing nothing you're sanctioning the selling of sub-standard food for over-inflated prices.
Whether or not you can buy a better/cheaper sandwich before the flight is neither here nor there, the point is that the produce Ryanair choose to sell on their flights should be of good standard and if it isn't, the customer has the right to have that situation rectified by exchange or refund.“Don't do it! At the risk of being unpopular, am I the only one to think that he should have paid?
Ryanair or not Ryanair, If you have/buy something, then you pay for it.
It's like me going to fruit and veg shop, tasting stuff, saying it tastes cr+p, and not paying or have I missed something?
No if you are served food not up to scratch or get a crãp haircut you don't pay give them your details (which Ryanair would already have anyway) and let them try to claim off you. Otherwise you are just being a doormat.
You can also take things that don't work are not up to par back to shops now, and cars don't have to have someone walking in front of the carrying a red flag. The truth may be out there, but the lies are inside your head. Terry Pratchett

Seems the chicken was as tough as Oleary!
I wouldn't be surprised if the "chicken" was ACTUALLY the last person who complained loudly about the tasty range of snack items on offer... Finger lickin' good!0 -
Good on the guy!
We should all complain. Airline food has got much worse over the last few years, not that it was ever marvellous.
My main meal on a flight from Tampa was pasta and pesto: no vegetables, no cheese. I complained, asking where was the nutrition meant to be. BA just fobbed me off. But if paying BA's fares we should at least get an edible meal.Member #14 of SKI-ers club

He also wants to continue to fly Ryanair and was very complimentary about the staff, other than this one stewardess.....
I've a feeling he may have burnt his bridges in that regards.
The report states:Ryanair spokesman says: "The issue was his behaviour, not what he was refusing to pay for.
"The captain requested police assistance on arrival after a passenger became disruptive.
I suspect Ryanair will not accept this person as a passenger in future following his previous "disruptive" behaviour, if they follow similar rejection principles of other airlines. Anyway, the captain has the final decision on who he does not wish to allow onto his aircraft.
I suspect Mr Ulven may only have the option of flying with other airlines in future, ones where he won't have to even pay a penny for his chicken sandwich (so he won't have any problems with deciding whether or not the product is worth the money being asked), but in which his fare may be several hundred pounds more to start with.

Thinking this through a bit more, I'm wondering if this sandwich was made from airkill (you know, the airline equivalent of roadkill). The poor bird gets caught up in the plane engine and gets shredded. The heat from the engine heats it up nicely so it is cooked. It is then stuck between two lumps of pre-frozen, out of date bread, and served up as chicken sandwich. It's been mullered so much by then, no-one will ever know it wasn't chicken in the first place.
It's a great money saving wheeze from Ryanair and they should go into Martin's "Hall of Fame" for money saving tips.
"The Chicken Run" should be compulsory viewing on all Ryanair flights from now onwards.
I think they were total idiots calling in the police. I think they have got so used to the police siding with them over disruptive passengers (usually correctly) that it went to their heads and they just forgot that legitimate protest without being abusive is perfectly acceptable - even on an aircraft.0
