    Welcome back!:)

    edit:

Whereabouts did you go that was far out ? Did you manage to get up to John O Groats? I was so shocked when we went there as I was expecting something..anything..but no just some extremely run down closed hotel and a card shop. We went all over Scotland in the car and it was one of the best time of our lives. Oh to be free like that again! I hope you had a relaxing time and got charge to recharge yourselves.

I've never tried the deep fried mars bar - I do believe some places down our way do them though!

We were up in Gairloch, 5 hours drive north west of Edinburgh..

Deep fried Mars bar is an acquired taste :o At least I can tick that off my list :D

Apologies not been around for a couple of days..:o

OH & I had a real heart to heart, and things have been pretty difficult lately.. IVF treatment has seriously taken its toll on both of us, physically & mentally.. looks like this has blinded us from seeing anything else going in our lives.. We got into a routine, and forgot everything else.. We were not going out, not having fun anymore, not even taking the time to communicate properly.. It has been a real downer, but after a long talk last night, and a fair few tears, we have taken some decisons to change things... We will make more time for each other, making sure we do things together.. This probably means less time on here too.. MF is still a target, however, our relationship is far more important..
It felt good to get all the feelings out there.. I am not one to talk much about my feelings (I am a bloke after all), and things said last night that have been buried inside me for 20 years :(...
Well, tonight I am making plans to turn things around, we do intend to move back down South at the earliest opportunity.. Therefore, a few things need to happen:
    • Need to pay off as much of the mortgage to get into positive equity
    • Finish off the refit of the kitchen
    • Arrange quote for floors in kitchen, lounge & hallway
    • Arrange decorator for the hallway, stairs, landing & bathroom ceiling
    • Buy new oven & cooker hood & install
    • Sort out the garden
    • re arrange lay out of spare room (sofa bed & desk instead of massive double bed)
    • .........
Am sure there will be far more but its a good start.. OH & I will also be starting "date nights" which could be quite fun, and a good way to reconnect..

My dad has announced that he is coming over in a couple of weeks time with his wife.. This will be the first time in 10 years... So I need to arrange for activities while he is here.. Think we might do the Man Utd tour and take them to the Lake District...

Hope everybody is well, sorry for all the ramblings...:(

    Cheers

A good heart to heart is needed at times, nothing more important than communication. DH and I have 'date nights' as much as we can. Even if it just means we do our own things up to a certain time and then have quality time together, even if it's just watching a film together. That might sound silly but we feel we have spent time together when doing that as actualy going out is not practical.
Sounds like you have a lot going on in your life to keep you busy at the moment.

You're absolutely right Froggy. I know exactly where you are coming from.

I've realised this too with OH being off work for 6 weeks ish now with depression and its only now that we feel that we have got it back to being like old times together, having a giggle and having more sneaky kisses when the children are about. We've both been caught up with so much stress and we are together all the time but not spending quality time together.

At least you've recognised this and are doing something about it. That's good.
I can't be bothered updating this anymore

I have also ordered 2 cinema tickets from Mr T Clubcard vouchers for a date with OH :T so we can watch the final Harry Potter movie together next month...

    Hi Froggy

Just dipping my toe into the world of MF'dom and came across your diary, with which I have now caught up and subscribed. I'm yet to be in a position to start my MF journey but intend to at some point early next year.

It's that superlative work/life/mortgage balance thing cropping up again, and you have played it beautifully mate. Keep your chins up!! Great work on the MF voyage aswell, keep up the great work....

Enjoy the cinema, it's a great date night! I always think people must think DH and I are on a date when we go to the cinema (although we have been married 7 years!) I have to admit though I've not seen a single Harry Potter film! :o

Fruit picking is fab! DH thinks I am wonderful as I keep making him pavlovas!

Although it's nowhere near the same and in comparison sounds completely pathetic - when we adopted our dog we didn't realise how she'd shift things, through no fault of her own, in our world. It's only recently that we've realised, like you, that we need to take time for ourselves and the words 'date night' have cropped up too.

We've focused so hard on her that we need to let go a little and bring back some of the fun we had before we adopted her - we're lucky in the fact that my parents love to babysit too! :rotfl:

Well done on talking about your feelings - I hope it wasn't too painful ;)

Froggy, you sound like more and more of an ideal husband every time you talk about your princess and your marriage. Nobody's perfect, and every marriage has close times and not-so-close times, but the best ones are the marriages where it's OK to address difficulties, and when you do address them, both people are able and willing to do something to make things better - in an "us against the difficulties" sort of way rather than a "me against you" sort of way.

I hope your date nights are lots of fun.
