    Hey :)

Been away for a few days and not caught up - but wanted to say re the envelope system - when I was getting used to a new budget I used the envelope system - but what I used was clear plastic pencil cases (bought cheaply at the time from Tesco). I then stuck plastic labels on each one. It worked well and I think I am going to start it up again. I had food, petrol/tram, clothing, personal. Everything else was by DD. Sounds like a plan

Will make a cuppa and enjoy a catch up. Hope you enjoyed the cuppa

    Nice quote

Hi Sparkly - hope you are well, thanks for keeping up.

As for 'subscribe to this thread' , its not just me then! :Dsighs with relief, I am not the only subscribe to this addict :j

On a serious note for mo, I promise you it won't last, I can never be serious for longer than 5 minutes. (clears throat) ...

I wrote loads of stuff today for my website, and just when I was about to finish I must have hit the 'please destroy all of this and send it into the eternal ^%**ing ether as I didnt want it after all' button :mad::mad::mad::mad: OH NO

I'm telling you, I was as mad as wee mad John of Mad Island in the McMad islands....grrrrr I am not surprised

I'm a writer, its bad enough convincing myself that someone else will want to read my stuff without this ancient tribute to personal computerness deciding my fate! What are you writing? Book? Articles?

But I've calmed down now after a very cold bottle of Becks and a lie down. Just not much point doing a TADA! list as it would be very short, something along these lines perhaps...

    Got up
    Had a coffee
    Scratched my chin
    Fed the cats
    Had another coffee
    Jump started PC
    Wrote for 4 hours
PC Quality Control dept intervenes and 'loses' todays work
    I cry
    The end
Always a point to a TADA list. You have done lots of productive things there - fed the cats, what would they do without you? Not just had coffe, you had to fill the kettle, put the kettle on to boil, put coffee in the cup, fill the cup, carry it to the chair, sit, and think!

Whoa...thats exactly what did happen! how uncanny....

I'm off for another lie down and an even colder beer and Top Gear

AW - what a let down of a day. Hope you are not too down about it. Would pass another Becks but it is too early in the day

Probably a bit latenow but couldn't you just have hit "undo"? Sorry, that is probably the most annoying thing I could have said

*hands Aspiring Writer another beer and backs away slowly *

Good try Buffy, like the passing around of Becks

I've been on that course, obviously it worked for you, I don't think I was quite ready to act on it although I met some nice people.

Helen, there were 30 of us on the course. Most of the 30 had changed their lives within a year, I took a while longer. I revisit the workbook from time to time and review my answers. I didn't consciously set out to do most of what I have done. I was one of the last of the 30 to actually achieve what I had said I wanted in life, and even now there are lots of things to still address.

If you still have the workbook you can always just take a peek back and I bet that there will be some things in there that you have adopted without even thinking about it.

I am a true believer though in being ready for things and when you are ready to take certain paths then you will spot the opportunities that are right there before you and cease them and run with them.

Cherisong you've got loads done since you've started the Ta Da list. I think I'm going to have to nick the idea too (so thanks very much whoever first thought of it):T

    **steps out of lurkerdom**

    Hi cherisong!

started reading your diary last night, I will be clicking the subscribe button, I read so many on here but yours really made me smile and struck a chord!

probably because of your dog - mine isn't quite so big, he's a retired greyhound, but he's still a big strong leggy lad and he gets into some merry scrapes and I find nothing starts people talking more than big dog stories :rotfl: he's 12 now and living on borrowed time but still the same old fruitcake underneath!

and also because of your love of a quote.

here's one which was engraved on a headstone of a very talented bike racer, David Jefferies, who sadly died very young, doing what he loved

"those who risk nothing, do nothing, achieve nothing, become nothing"

obviously there's a balance to be found :D but it reminds me to make time to enjoy life as it's too damn short!

good luck on your Landrover quest - I have a lovely (old) A6 estate and my greyhound looks lost in it! he loves it though :T I can imagine a great dane needs rather more lounging space than that so I'm sure a Landrover will be perfect :money:

edit - thanks also for the TA DA list - tried it today, worked a charm!

:T:T:T for TADA lists. Cheery Daff was my inspiration for this. Cant help competing with myself :rotfl: It helps that I am on holiday this week.

Little H - thank you. I too read many diaries and I am honoured that mine made you smile. It is so true about dogs getting people talking. I have made many friends via dogs. I will try to post a picture of him in the fiesta.

Loving the quote. So true. My best friend died at 19. She lived her life to the full and I can honestly say that I believe that she lived more in her short life than I have done in twice that time.

Well done on the TADA list.

  • Oooh I love your thread cheri ! I have a particularly mad dog, he is supposedly a short haired lurcher but we call him the 'fat greyhound', after I got deeply offended by such a remark from a passer-by ! He is very protective of me, can't let meter readers or workmen in the house until he is in complete seclusion.
He has dug so many holes in our 'lawn' that it is quite precarious hanging the washing out in case you end up in another country...

    But I love him.

    Morning all,

My sunshine doesn't come from the skies,
It comes from the love in my dog's eyes.

    Unknown Poet

DC - your dog sounds wonderful. I get fed up hearing "You could put a saddle on him" "He's like a donkey" "Do you live in a big house" "Does he eat a lot" I have thought about having a tee shirt printed with just the answers to the questions :rotfl:

Right with the poem in mind, the sun is shining so I will take him to the the beach again. After all I am supposed to be on holiday and all of the decluttering is waring me out! And he deserves to be treated like a king
