Holy cow that room must have been full to bursting!!! Hi there, have just read the whole thread. Well done on focussing on the debt. I hope that you get good prices for the designer stuff.
I like the idea of tada lists i may have to adopt that on my paper diary.....
cheers

:rotfl: I wasnt joking when I said that I couldnt even open the door. OH has lived here for 6 years. I dont think he ever really made it a home as he was always travelling back and to at the weekends to visit his son. So he never had time to do anything. Since moving in with him 12 months ago I have taken it slowly before getting on and doing things. I didnt want to upset him too much. However he is now ready for the great declutter. We are also working on the wasteland that should be a garden.
Go for it with the TADA list it is really motivating. Thanks DC. I agree it is a great feeling. I truly believe that clutter makes me tired, if not ill. I am a big believer in Feng Shui and in my own house I had decluttered to within an inch of my life. In fact, when I moved out and put things in storage my friends could not believe how little I had.
My OH has lived like this for so long that I know that we will see a difference in his general well being once he can find his things. All he ever says is that he cant find things. I dont think it helped that his Dad sent a lot of his boxes that were stored in the garage to the tip without asking him.
I am doing a mini life laundry for him! And in the process it is helping me to cheer up.Some days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, I will try again tomorrow -- Mary Anne Radmacher0 -
Ok, I am stealing Scrooges idea of a quote per month. As my aim this month is to clear the guest room then the following quote seems to fit
To reach a port, we must sail—Sail, not tie at anchor—Sail, not drift.
Franklin Roosevelt
Yesterday was a very productive day. Added to which the car cost me a lot less than I thought. Nothing needed to be done to it :j So much for old cars and to think that I nearly scrapped it in the scrappage scheme. Ok, I would have done if I had the other £15000 to add to the pot for a landrover but I decided that I would enjoy my landrover much more when I feel financially abundant. I am getting there slowly. I am really enjoying seeing the Virgin CC balances coming down. I might be brave and add it to my signature. This is, however, the first of 4 cards for blasting.
So today, I am off to the tip to get rid of all the rubbish. then over to focus to buy some storage boxes for all of the magazines that I have no room for on the bookshelves. Then I must clean the bathroom and hoover through the house. I really do intend to have a rest tomorrow. Although that includes some batch cooking for being back at work next week.
Made up with my challenge to make £5 a day so far. I have decided to count my tesco vouchers and a refund that I got from trainline.
I will use the vouchers to buy my RAC membership and the refund went a long way towards the car service. Some days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. Courage doesn't always roar. I love your quote again.
By the way, don't forget to hoover the curtains, DC is watching, and she's done hers :rotfl:.
Have a great day cheri.I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear.0 -

Next you will be telling me to iron my bedding.

I will be changing this to my signature from this evening.
Well, it has been a funny old day today. I did my to do list on the challenge thread but only got half of it done. My TADA list is very different to my To Do list. So I have still achieved more than I set out to do.
I have also joined the £10 a day challenge and I swear I have become a money magnet. No, really, let me tell you.......... Since joining I have made £96.15 extra cash and this is real money - already in the bank (well ok £18.50 is in fact Mr T money but it still counts because my RAC is due). This has been made by surveys, quidco, refunded train tickets, finding pennies in the street. So I have decided that this week I am going to buy a lottery ticket.
That isnt counting how much discount I received this week because I dont class that as real money but yesterday my cars service and MOT cost a lot less than originally quoted, I used a young lad from the village and he is just starting out in business so he gave me a discount. Today I just saved over £70 on fence posts and panels. That was because I was convinced I could get it cheaper so I was extra nice to the man on the phone. I even got free delivery!
TADA List- made and ate breakfast
- walked Moo to the forest and back (normally take him in the car but decided that it was cheaper and I need to get fit) which was an extra 1.5 miles each way
- washed dishes and tidied kitchen
- 2x loads of washing (dogs blankets and towels)
- 2x trips to the tip
- went to prom for lunch and read my book
- saw dolphins playing in the bay
- filled car with petrol
- went to my flat and packed up a load of stuff for the tip
- another trip to the tip
- phoned around for fence posts and panels - ordered and paid for delivery tomorrow
- phoned the gardener to tell him that I had gotten the panels
- updated diaries
- phoned the dogsitter who will be looking after Moo so that I can go to the proms in September YIPEEE
- phoned doggy daycare for next week, still waiting on call back. Panicking now as I have to take Moo to Anglesey with me and have no day care organised for him YIKES

Seriously loving the money magnet thing.DC.

Of course I can hoover curtains, however it is a challenge I choose not to accept :rotfl: (in truth I used to hoover my curtains in the last house because I had a wall of glass and big heavy chenille curtains so it was easier than taking them down and sending them to the cleaners. I think I sickened myself of it)
I too love dolphins and whales. Spent many a happy holiday in Mexico where my friend owns a whale and dolphin sightseeing tour company. I am proud and privelaged to say that I have sat in a small fishing boat and listened to a whale singing in the pacific ocean and been surrounded by a mother, companion and baby. Finest and most spiritually moving moment of my life. I am now lucky enough to live in an area where I can go to the coast and catch sight of dolphins. It is even reported that there have been sightings of leatherback turtles. I am a nature freak so I am very lucky to be here but I just decided that I dont make enough of the opportunities and life is for living.
I too am loving the money magnetism. Well I never had the ability to attract men so money is ok by me.Some days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. Courage doesn't always roar. phew, and today ends at last.
Havent stopped all day. I now have space on the floor in the back bedroom (oops guest room) 12 boxes emptied, now got 10 bags to go to the tip, 2 bags to the charity shop, a chest of drawers that I didnt know existed, 2 mirrors to go up on walls, 100 books to go on bookshelves or to be listed on amazon, 6 tins of Laura Ashley paint, 2 tins of crown paint. 4 pairs of curtains, a curtain pole, a tent, a camping gas cooker, 2 sleeping bags, half a shed, a bookshelf to be put together, 2 boxes for car booting. A sore toe where I dropped a box on it, an aching back and many bruises.
Half a bottle of wine later and I have retired to bed. I am sure there is a quote in there somewhere but I am too tired to find one. Going to collapse into bed following a long hot soak in the bath.
This is why I'm glad I have no spare bedrooms because if I did it would end up like this!
Great news on the proms you must be so excited.
I have never hoovered curtains but I do iron the duvet covers - it makes me feel efficient (rolls eyes....)
Loving the 'main thing' quote :rotfl:It's not how far you fall - it's how high you bounce back.... :jHappiness is not a destination - it's a journey0
