I have more than enough for my needs BUT I really WANT a landrover

My challenge (and I do choose to accept it) is to pay off £15000 worth of credit card debt  I will break it into smaller chunks and set targets for each. Then I can start saving for a Landrover. I do know that my target for a deposit on a landrover is September 2011. There I have put it out to the universe so it will happen :rotfl:
Enough procrastination. Time for me to start my own diary. Having been inspired by several peoples diaries on here(I will credit them at appropriate points), or should I say shamed into giving myself the well earned Kick up the Behind needed for some time now, I thought that if I started a diary I might actually get a little way towards achieving my lust for a landrover. Believe me with a partner that lives away most of the time lusting after a landrover is not as bad as I could get
:D
Yes, I admit it, I have a weakness for the big ugly gas guzzlers, so much so I take myself over to the garage on a regular basis to just wander around and look at them. Well a girl can dream. I have absolutely no chance of owning one if I carry on the way I am so this is my challenge. If I get organised to pay off some debts and save a deposit I can get one.
Now it isn't as indulgent or bad as it sounds. You see I live in rural Wales and own a great dane. Now I dont care how cute people say he looks in the back of my fiesta  I really think he needs a bit more space to sit back and enjoy the ride.
So my mantra has always been "I have more than enough for my needs" but the last couple of years have seen immense changes in my life and due to those changes I have gotten myself into a position of debt which I have never had before. I know, people always find excuses for debt but believe me when I say that I am not a spendthrift and my debt is very firmly gained with my head screwed on at the time and for reasons other than enjoying myself. I will reveal all when I get my head around an SOA and my current complicated domestic situation.
So if anybody wants to jump aboard or tailgate then feel free to do so. I believe in listening to all suggestions, no matter how stupid they may seem and hopefully I can meet some new friends and be influenced along the way.
Oh, I just wanted to add that I recently started to read Knitwits diary. She likes quotes and I felt like I found a kindred spirit - my friends get fed up with my quotes so, if Knitwit doesnt mind, I will steal her idea and put a quote of the day on my diary to inspire me.

Oh hello Cherisong.
I love quotes too and have multiple sources of inspiration. Lately, I've been keeping my eye out for tea related quotes to keep Cheery Daff moving, lol!
I am interested in your Great Dane - what's his name and how old is he? You and I both have dogs prone to wobbler's syndrome (mine's a dobermann) and I have just paid out nearly £4000 for scans and surgery (I'm hoping to get 80% back through insurance but you never know!!).
Good luck with your quest - do you have an inspiration board with photos of coveted vehicle?
Sparkly
P.S. I saw the Dalai Lama speak in Nottingham - he was hilarious!0 -
Hi Sparkly - lovely name conjures up a great picture
and thanks for taking the time to read.
Another quote fan - great news :j Mmm tea quotes, like the sound of that, I have come across Cheery on Fay and Hypnos diaries so I might look up a quote and slip one in for her as a surprise :rotfl: My friends and family think I am a bit mad but they always respond to my quotes on facebook.
My Great Dane's official kennel name is Licenced to Thrill! (really and he does) and his pet name is Max (although he answers to Moo more). Wobblers is such a worry isnt it? I have been lucky. Max is 6 years old (going on 1) but a couple of years ago he had a limp and the vet thought we should scan him for wobblers. I have to admit to being a wuss and asking to hold off on that ( I couldnt face the prospect and needed to get my head around it). By the time I had thought I could cope with the possible outcomes the vet had decided that we didnt need to go down that route. I hope that all works out for your dog (what is his/her name) and that you get 80% of the costs back. It is so reassuring to be insured isnt it? That reminds me I must start shopping around for a better deal this year. Who are you with? I am with Sainsburys and it costs me a fortune but yesterday he did a typical Scooby type trick of running into a bollard at the beach and somersaulting in the air, landing on his front shoulder and howling for Britain. I thought he had broken a leg and panicked but after the initial shock he got up and limped along with his football.
An inspiration picture board, now why didnt I think of that one. Good call I will go and find pictures and put them onto a board this weekend. I have been reading Make do and Mend and Memorygirl inspired me to kick myself up the behind and get sorted.I love her mindmapping ideas so I am also planning to read up on that this weekend I thought a diary would be a good start to help me to focus on things.
Lucky you getting to see the Dalai Llama, I think he is so funny. I love his book the Road to Happiness and I often read it if I am feeling sorry for myself. Some days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. Courage doesn't always roar. Hi Cherisong
I love Great Danes so will be rooting for you in your Landrover quest@ LBM = £15,872.65, now £10,819.82AF Jan = 7/? Feb = 5/14 Mar = 14/20 Apr = 6/14 May = 2/14 June 2/14 July 0/TF Aug 1/TFv Sept 6/TF Oct 4/7"NEVER DOUBT YOUR OWN QUALITY"0 -
Dear Cherisong,
I want a wife, a dog and a Land Rover! oh and I want to live in Scotland.
Right, now I've got that off my chest. Which landy would you like? A Defender might be best. I keep looking at them on Ebay...amongst other stuff like Harley Fatboys, Lotus Esprit's and mid-80's Porsche 911's in Guards Red.
I will get what I want though, a plan is in place...Good luck with your debt reduction, keep at it,oh, and as for quotes, I have a copy of 'Humorous Quotations' by Ned Sherrin. Truly inspiring..."If you are going through Hell, keep going" - Winston Churchill0 -
:j:j:j Wow, fellow quote lovers how fantastic.
Where do I start?
Buffy - welcome oh great one, I have come across you in several threads, so I am very flattered to see you here. A Bentley - ahhhhh (sighing with you there) Do we want the rich driver to go with it?
Honey - thank you. What is not to love about Great Danes - do you have one or ever had one?
AW - hmmm I used to be an aspiring writer but I realised that I would never make the grade. So, Wife, dog, landrover, Scotland - I think you are a kindred spirit (except the wife wouldnt suit me :rotfl: Would it be strictly in that order or are you flexible? Who knows one could bring the other! What kind of dog would you like and where in Scotland do you want to move to. I love Scotland especially around the Loch Lomond area. Sounds like a perfect life.
Landrover of choice would be Defender County Black (maybe red) Would prefer windows in the back (Moo needs to see the sheep in the fields;)) but could live without them. But to be honest - just any landrover would do. I have previously lusted after a VW campervan but when my nephew started to call me Daphne I thought maybe it wasnt such a good idea with having Moo, stereotype and all that.
Tomorrow I plan to work on my big scheme to reduce the debt. Thanks to several threads on here I now do quidco, surveys, clicking(although I confess to lapsing on that front) ebaying, reviews and shabby chicing (and breathe) I aim to mind map, network, write, declutter do more ebaying, flylady, meal plan, freecycle, (breathe) and in between all of that hold down a full time job, walk the dog, renovate the house, clear the garden and BREATHE.
Ok, I am exhausted just thinking about it all, off to read some more diaries to set myself up for more challenges I will not fail, I will not fail,
Somebody please stop me from subscribing to diaries :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:Some days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, I will try again tomorrow -- Mary Anne Radmacher0 -
I had a good friend who had one - he was a lovely dog, & she was a lovely friend!
I also love quotes, my sig changes a lot to reflect my mood. If i come across good ones I'm not planning to use for awhile I'll post them for you@ LBM = £15,872.65, now £10,819.82AF Jan = 7/? Cherisong meet writer lol lol lol lol
Loch lomond has such a bad reputation now ... You should maybe think further north ... Nice hills shame about the midges0 -
Honey, - Danes are so lovely they do get under your skin. Do you still see your friend? sounds like she was a nice person. I look forward to your quotes.
SH - thank you.
Elantan, I havent been lucky enough to go to Scotland for several years. I really liked it around Killen and Crinalarich, Arrochar and beyond but I also had a friend in Roy Bridge, I do also like Grantown on Spey. Unfortunately I never had the chance to get much further North than that. My OH lived in Orkney for some time and he keeps threatening/promising to take me there. Maybe when I get the landrover I could throw the tent in the back and take a long drive up from West Wales. Some days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. Courage doesn't always roar.
