    OH wow! How green/mse is THAT.................AND just given me another idea, howabout trading skills/resources with others for a green wedding.

    Like if you know someone with a well nice car, getting them to be your wedding car (we actually did that with our BMW for a friend) and chauffer for the day...............and you give them something in exchange (obviously something legal and ethical!!) like mowing their grass for a month........................HEY that was an example off the top of my head, give me a break! :o:o

    LOL many would disagree! :rotfl::rotfl:

    Obviously this is going to depend what you can offer Ark ;):D LOL seriously though you could almost bring your family in on it to help 'pay' for your wedding, like if you've got a decorator or electrician in the family etc etc :confused::confused:

    LOL and it's VERY oldstyle too! :cool:

    Have a pagan handfasting.....outdoors in a circle - A friend of mine did this in her garden, she asked all the guests to bring flowers, which were used with some locally picked greenery to make the circle....The officials were (obviously?) from her coven but I believe you can do this legally in Scotland now! So perhaps we will follow here soon. It was followed by a knees up - also at her house.

    Benefits....No Room Hire, or reception hire, no flower expenses (the guests were all given bunches to take home) I have to say it was one of the nicest ceremonies I have been to :)

    Organise a pot luck reception....I have an American book which suggests this - you ask for a donation to the reception as a wedding gift, and give your phone number so people can check what to bring - I don't suppose many people these days actually NEED the settings up of a house as wedding pressies. The donation to the reception is going to cost most people considerably less than buying a present, unless of course somebody wants to give you a venison roast LOL! so most people will contribute.

    Buy booze from somewhere that gives free glass hire....some of the supermarkets do this. An internet friend of mine organises weddings at her local church, and they let her have the glasses and they don't but alcohol. (OK - Yes my friends are a mixed bunch LOL!)

    I think you should all club together and buy one dress - the MSE Wedding Dress and pass it between you - Tell you what - I'll make it for you ;) and we will buy the material in a sale :rotfl:

    Regards

    You'll need to make sure it has adjustable sides and bust. Us MSE'ers come in all shapes and sizes. :rotfl: :rolleyes:

    Oh I know....I was thinking of something soft and flowing (and potentially large) with an adjustable corset over the top ;) no problem if the blushing bride is spilling out of the top a little :D

    I know it's not on topic, but you saying how much weddings cost...there was a funeral in my street today, the Plumed black Horse Drawn carriage was bag-piped out of the street by a scottish Piper in full kit, kilt sporran and furry hat, they were followed by six Funeral cars carrying the rellies and a half ton of flowers....another 20 odd cars followed with black flags. I heard the piper and I thought it was somebodies mobile ring tone...I went to investigate as it went on a bit and discovered it was real! I shudder to think how much THAT cost (although the family are obviously shocked by the death of this guy - he was only 35 and it was unexpected) They are not wealthy people. I am looking after an elderly friend in a care home and we got her a basic pre-paid package and that was £2K!

    I suppose the difference between weddings and funerals is that you can possibly only ever have one funeral....

    I had a frugal wedding first time around - I didn't realise I was marrying a cheapskate though LOL! Current DH and I haven't officially tied the knot - seems a bit pointless after 20+ years and three kids, and nearly paying the mortgage off!

    Regards
