Yeah...what is it with some neighbours...one of mine walked backwards to her car to avoid looking at me. I'm not that ugly honestly but then how would she know, she's never looked at me
. I shall make a cake next time there is a nice evening and leave all my windows open and taunt her with the smell:D.

Be very careful of doing this with neighbours...it can turn into a habit that's hard to break...
We have elderly neighbours and the lady fell and broke her ankle. So to help out I made a Shepherds pie and sent it over. When I called to see how she was a day or two later....there was the dish filled with a pasta bake.
According to her, you can't send a dish back empty.I have no idea why not....I think it must be some sort of old wives tale?
So off I toddled with my dish full of pasta bake, thought about it for a while and felt I had to do the same in return....stupid I know!:o
So I refilled the dish with something else and sent it back....
We played ping pong like this for a while until I got fed up/too busy to play anymore and thankfully it stopped and I finally got my dish back!
However, the upside is we have found great friends in our lovely neighbours, so I would recommend you go for it and bake a cake for your neighbour.....just hope you don't get something back in the dish in return.:)

I would be wishing I got something back in the dish! I smell my neighbours food from my garden and it must be lush! Being a young single living in a shared house with people just like myself makes for poor quality meals for the most part... even if all three of us are quite good at cooking and love to make nice food, but during the week there is just not the time or energy for it! We do make up in the weekends...
I think I'll give it a go, although from some posts on this thread it seems like girls/women do not want to receive cakes from single males... hope I don't give the wrong impression!
My neighbour next door to the left is an idiot that complains about all we do, maybe a cake will cheer him up! My neighbours on the right are an elderly couple (good food producers I suspect) wich I believe are good people... but we've only lived here for a short time, so don't really know!0 -
I'm getting a new drive laid in about 6 weeks time, and the front garden is going to be rotavated and new turf laid. They are also putting new edging stones on the garden border between me and the man next door.
We've already explained what we are having done, apologised for the inconvenience, and I said I'll put grass seed down on his side if any of his grass gets destroyed. He's also said he doesn't mind if we park outside his house or on his drive if he is away (works on oil rigs). He is also happy for me to cut some branches off his tree at the back, as they are banging on the fence at the moment, so may cause damage in the winter winds.#
He's an older man who lives on his own and doesn't seem to get many visitors. I think I'll make him a cake afterwards to say sorry for the mess and noise the builders will cause. Here I go again on my own....0 -

It might be a good idea to bake the cake first to apologise in advance for the inconvenience."This site is addictive!"

Think my neighbours would just find it odd if I baked them a cake. They would assume I was apologising for something because they came with chocolates one time last year to apologise for their dog barking early in the morning. The neighbours the other side would think I was eccentric or something!0

My neighbour on one side is like Snowy Owl's, except she stares at me as if to say drop dead, only ever used to speak if she wanted to know something or wanted to brag about her latest purchase for the house or her daughters success in her exams, (shes very bright) I got fed up and stopped talking to her altogether, all the other neighbours have given up on her too, its not just me.
Neighbours on the other side, well shes a much better cook than me, would probably love it if I took her a cake though, cos sher loves her food, there lovely neighbours. Havent got enough ingredients in at the moment, but its a great idea. In the meantime, I've potted out some pansies for the woman across the road, and am going to give her them next time I see her, so does this count???

I think I might do this for our new neighbours that have moved in opposite. They only moved in a fortnight ago and are still getting things organised, so think maybe a home made cake will be a nice touch

Becles you probably have a good neighbour because you are considerate. I wish our neighbours would tell us when they are having work down I don't ask for 6 weeks a day would do!!0
