I didn't purposely lose the recipt doh! Asda's policy until recently (4th July according to the e-mail reply received from their CS) was that a receipt was preferred but not essential. The item in question was purchased at or around that time - given that CS advised in store staff should use their discretion I really don't think I'm asking too much. Will hopefully find the receipt, although not going to lose sleep over it for £7, but given that Asda proclaim themselves to be very customer service orientated there response is not what I would have expected.
Anyway, I know they won't particularly notice or care if I stop shopping with them, but will make me feel better knowing that I'm not supporting them.0 -

Yes I had noticed that Primark is another store that treats all potential customers as criminals - not an admirable quality.
Next time, always get the next size up, as your brats will grow into them and hence, save you money in the long run0 -
i think everyone is aware that you have more rights when you hold a receipt for an item, but supermarkets have always provided this relaxed ruling in exchanging sizes without a receipt, it is this factor that encourages me to buy items to try (low priced items) on at home and if it doesnt fit i am able to exchange without much hassle. in future i think i will do two transactions when buying non food items, one for non food and one for groceries...that way it would encourage me not to accidently throw my receipt away.0

Perhaps this may help if a similar situation arises?
Go back to the store and buy the item(s) required in the correct size(s). Keep receipt!
Return to store with your original purchase and your new receipt - use it obtain refund for the unwanted items.
You then have the items in the size(s) you wanted and you have paid the correct amount of money.
Nobody is out of pocket and you have achieved the result you wanted.:T0 -
You are fully entitled to an exchange at george without your receipt! I dont know who you spoke to but if you don't have your receipt you can exchange or alternatively have the last selling price for a asda gift card so if you have the items i suggest you return them and advise them of this0

refund queen
there are lots and lots of threads about eligibility for a refund - you don't have to pick one that's almost a year old.
Your advice (I'm not sure if it's correct advice) is far, far too late for the OP - I'm sure his DS1 will have worn the shorts to death by now. :cool:0 -
I bought a pair of stretch ladies jeans on Friday last week . To find when I wore them for the first time yesterday, there was not enough material sewn into the seam and it had come apart. I returned them to customer services last night minus the receipt and they exchanged them for another pair without any quibble. I have always found Asda courteous and extremely professional and find if you approach people courteously they always repond positively.0
