Erm
Have you ever re-read your posts on other threads?.................................................................................................................................................
LOL please feel free to quote me. I can fully admit i'm wrong (and have done) especially when the majority of people are telling me the same thing.
Most of my posts you think are childish are probably posted in fun. Based on your already apparent lack of comprehension, i really dont have any faith in your ability to understand the context in which many of my posts are made. Whether or not i am childish has no bearing on you being childish.
Even if i am (which i am at times), as the saying goes.......two wrongs dont make a right. Nor does it retract any of the truth in the statement about you acting like a child. Which you're still proving to be true even now. Thanks for thatYou keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -
Unholy - I think you may find that you are the one who has jumped to conclusions about me. I assure you I have a thorough understanding of the legal position and what a consumer's statutory rights are and fully comprehend everything you have written; I just don't agree with your point of view nor Asda's change in policy. There is nothing childish about that.0

Actually I took an item of clothing back to my local Asda just yesterday - I didn't have the receipt but they changed it for another (completely different) item, with no hassle at all.
I guess I just don't look like a shop-lifterI'm a retired employment solicitor. Hopefully some of my comments might be useful, but they are only my opinion and not intended as legal advice.0 -
jazza saying you were being childish was actually referring to your reaction and responses to people who had posted on the threads with their opinions and advice. You'd be suprised the number of people who ask for opinions and then (shock horror) react badly when they're not told what they want to hear.
Opinions are like lives, everyones entitled to oneJust some are more sensible than others :rotfl: (hmmm am i referring to lives or opinions? the mind boggles).
Anyways, lets put the past behind us and be friendslmao

actually dispite all you lot being 'orrible to the op i m actually quite thankful to the op making me aware because i have previously picked up clothes for my two dds and returned items for different sizes without a showing receipt often and if item or size was unavailable i would just use the gift card towards my grocery shopping. so now in the future i know to keep hold of any shopping receipts when i purchase clothes from george. i agree with the op, no one is saying asda is not entitled to enforce this but a few notices at the till would be looking out for genuine customers, also reminding customers there unable to exchange or refund with out proof of purchase when making payment is hardly an unreasonable gesture when the new ruling has recently changed. in fact sainsburys informed me of this new ruling too the other month, when i wanted to exchange sizes on some sandals as the size was not a true size (too small). after explaining i was merely exchanging another size though appreciate their change of policy to deter shoplifters, and suggested if there was any reason i could not simply just buy the correct size and return the unsuitable size for a refund with the new receipt. whilst in the store i rang the store manager on my mobile to discuss this further, as they could see i was determined not to let this go they backed down and eventually exchanged my item..a lot of unjustified hassle but i stood my ground and least im now aware of the new policy for next time.0

In future OP, keep your receipt.0

They are going over an above their statutory rights and yet they still get flak - what more do you want?
Without a receipt, you can take an item off the shelf, claim you bought it yesterday and that you dont want it - theres no chance of getting busted for shoplifting as you haven't "stolen" the item till you leave the store and very little chance of being caught... you then get a refund or an exchange, and you legally own the goods and can walk away with no risk of being caught. Simple. This is what Asda are preventing against - it's not unreasonable to be asked to keep your reciept, if the benefits are a service that Asda don't have to provide (exchanges on items that don't fit), especially when you could of checked before hand.
No, I don't work for Asda.Nothing I say represents any past, present or future employer.0 -
You didn't have the receipt but did you have proof of purchase? Unless you paid in cash, could you have a bank or credit card statement that shows the purchase? Bit of a long shot but worth a try. It seems a little premature to ditch a receipt before the item's even been tried on...."Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0

Not best thrilled with ASDA /Walmart at the best of times, but definetely don't think I'm cutting off my nose - much prefer to shop at Sainsburys anyway.
Sainsbury's has exactly the same policy, so make sure your wife keeps receipts for there too for any clothes until they've been tried on.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0
