prettypennies - our Vladimir is Czech - or possibly Slovak, we have so many I'm always mixing them up...

I always wanted Chloe for a girl, but next door's cat was called that. Leonie was out as OH couldn't say it. DD considers herself very fortunate that she didn't get the name of my favourite plant, in Latin of course!

All my children's names work as well in French as they do in English, since that's what I teach.

My mother was also a teacher, and she chose Serena, Coralie and Robin as she'd never taught anyone with those.

Triker - now I'm dying with curiosity to know what your real name is! Mine can't be shortened either...

When I had DD one of my Mum's friends thought I had chosen badly as her big brother wouldn't be able to say her name...
well he could pronounce her first name perfectly well (not that that should have been a consideration anyway, he was 2 and a quarter) but he couldn't pronounce her middle name which was Louise.
He crossed the syllables over and pronounced it Weasel.
And the panic on the faces of those who asked DS what his new baby was called was brilliant.
(We call her Weasel sometimes - but usually call her Loo or Looby)

I am starting to think it would be lovely to have a little teeny tiny family not the millions of rellies I do have.. thankfully most of my dads family are REALLY boring and use the same 4-5 names over and over.. (David, Michael, James, John and to a lesser extent Anthony)
Our family is not massive, but I always wanted Joseph for a boy...was my Grandad's name (incredibly special man). My sis chose it for middle name for her boy, could cope with that but then SiL just chose it for her baby boy :mad::mad:

I think it's about time we saw the resurgence of Lettuce as a name. (Girls name popular-ish about 150 yearsago (JOKE!)
My mum nursed a family with the surname Leaf (all old unmarried ladies...there was (no joke) a Lettuce, a Rose, a Primrose and one more I think....

We love the girls name we have, just want a similarly good boys name so we won't be disappointed if we have to use it! I like Luke and James but DH doesn't!

Flying - have cleaned the bathroom and kitchen worktops plus one kitchen window. DH has hoovered til the dyson hose which was already taped completely came away . Have also done an online shop for Tuesday. Just watching England collapse in the cricket!

    Afternoon all

Mainly pottering today. Boys bedrooms hoovered, washing on the line.

DH is getting on with loads of outstanding little jobs. Need to get some paint this week for him to repaint the playhouse and garage doors before autumn sets in.

Also planning on decorating the living room in the autumn. We want to turn what has been the 'toy' end into a dinning area and DH wants to strip the floor as the carpet needs replacing and have floor boards and a huge rug in the sitting end.

Along with digging a pond and getting rid of the sunken sandpit and slide I really do feel that the 'little kids' stage is over :(:D and I've mixed emotions about that.

Off for an hour in the garden before the rain sets in.

Serena hope DS1 has a good time at Knebworth

Decluttered a coffee, a nap and another cuppa in that order. Actually feeling awake now. Collected plastic recycling and started DS2 off in tidying the mess of toys in the LR.

Muse tickets arrived in the post today, so that's one thing less to worry about. I bought them on the first day of school last September  and I was beginning to worry. It's DS1's treat for getting good results in his exams, so they'll be sold (I think) if he doesn't.
