Just a quick post as I'm off to football
I went to school with twins called Mercedes and Skania!
Boys names I like - Caleb, Isaac, Cathan, Ewan, Ridley
Girls names - Caitlin, Milly, errr.....that's it!!
Back later xx"There's only one way of life and that's your own" - Levellers
"I'm feeling like a Monday but someday I'll be Saturday night" - Bon Jovi0 -
As a teacher, I have a huge list of boys names to avoid, which makes it much harder to find one I like. Up until recently I liked the name William as it can be shortened to Will which is still quite cool (have met quite a few boys who shorten their name to Billy though recently). I also like Jonathon, and Luke so quite traditional names. I also like the name Andrew.
For girls names, I used to like Mia until I met this awful Mia in a nursery school who was very sulky, clingy and threw tantrums all the time. Now I like Emily (all the girls I've met with this name have been lovely, kind and quiet), Summer, Lucy, Amelia, Meg, Beth, Eve, Ella, Freya and Faith.Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.I married Moon 8/4/2011, baby boy born 26/9/2012, Angel Baby Poppy born 8/11/15, Rainbow baby boy born 11/2/20170 -
A girl in my (wider) family is called Jaeger.
apparently it means hunter
It does - in German. The most annoying name for me is Madchen, because it's German for girl. Really winds me up.I chose names I'd never taught.
I can so sympathise with this. We really struggled to agree on names. DS1 doesn't have a middle name, because we could hardly choose one, never mind two. Both he and DS2 have quite traditional, biblical names. DS2's middle name is Cameron, as DS1 and I both loved it and DH didn't mind. A girl would have probably been Sophie or Lucy, with Elizabeth as a middle name, after my nan.
Since I started researching DH's family tree I've found out that Francis/Frank and William were passed on through the generations (DH's uncle is Frank). Pity it's a bit late, as Francis would have made a nice middle name for DS1.
I got back from town much later than expected, but have managed to cross lots of little things off my shopping list - even some black, heeled, strappy sandals. For £6 I don't mind if they don't last too long. DS1 has gone to Meadowhall to see a film and he's going to have a look for travel adaptors.
I've had some ryvita with various toppings (trying to cut out bread - thanks for the tip). Going to get yogurt, fruit and a coffee now, then I will fly!0 -
I thought Lettice was spelt as I've written...I actually really liked this name for a girl and I remembered 'Bran' for a boy.
Oh and Elana or Elena.
Francesca?
Hamish.
I like things that can be shortened as I have a very unusual name that cannot really be shortenend (believe me many have tried) and rhymes with nothing.:D
Dottie, lottie, abbie, ellie, that kind of thing.
I've had cats named; Eleanor, Timothy, Jane, Dotty Dot, Pixie and Zimby, short for Zimbabwe....oh and Angus.
Been out and back. Collected 2 girls, gave some money to eldest DD, picked up hoover from Tesco,
Off to tip my head into hairdye to cover the grey.:rotfl:
Oh yes and I'd better ebay some stuff too.DFW Nerd 267. DEBT FREE 11.06.08

Sexymouse- I agree with you that working with children puts you off certain names!
In the past few years in my classes there has been a plethora of Daniels, Megans, Courtneys, Camerons and Declans. We have also had Holly Wood, Jack Daniels, George Best and Summer Rain
I had a very eclectic mix of names on my baby list when I was having the twins but thankfully went for traditional names. Thomas, Llewelyn, Herbert and Walen have cropped up lots in our family tree. We chose Thomas as DS1s middle name.
If I ever had another boy (which I won't be!!) I quite like Edward. When the twins were really small, if they had done something naughty, they would say 'Eddie did it'
If I had had girls they would probably have been called something like Ava or Claudia! I mentioned the name Tierney to my nan whilst I was pregnant and she said it was an awful name. Later found out my Grandad had a bit of a thing for a woman name Tierney.
Twins, twice the laughs, twice the fun, twice the mess!:j:j0 -
I like Morgan for a girl.. there are 3 Scarletts at school in rec/Yr 1 ..
DD1 and I like Bertie .. the 'one too many' reference seems appropriate lol
Our Y6 that just left had two Morgans
one a boy and one a girl!
My hairdresser's grandson is a Morgan as is the actor James Mason's son, who married Belinda Carlisle.

It does - in German. The most annoying name for me is Madchen, because it's German for girl. Really winds me up.
Then there's Sonny...
I loved Eloise but couldn't get it past the 'censor'. Mind you Melissa fell at that hurdle too.:o
There are some beautiful Welsh names (Where's Tooch when you need her) such as Cerys and Nerys. I'd draw the line at Nest though.
I've now known a few Niamhs but if you're around people who don't know that 'mh' sounds like 'v' it can cause problems.
Mrs C tell him to pop into Sports Direct down near Argos past the steelmen - they've a huge rack of stuff like that at the back;)
Triker you might well be right. I can remeber a puppet prog with a brother and a sister and she was called Lettice/LettuceDon't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016

Serena - We had a Vladimir (Vladko for short) at my school for a year. He was Slovenian. He was a really lovely, well mannered boy.
I had a Marceli (pronounced Marcheli) in my class last year and he was a real sweetie.Twins, twice the laughs, twice the fun, twice the mess!:j:j0
