So sorry to hear about your holiday, but congratualtions on dealing with it so well. Your sense of perspective is very well-balanced to take it so well.

Of course, it means that you can look at some other amazing destinations instead, so perhaps an adventure beckons?! ;) x

Hi. My OH flew to Cuba last October with Martinair (part of KLM). He was going to a conference so they had booked the hotel but could you book the accommodation separately? He said KLM was very good and the Cubans were incredibly helpful.

I presume TC are rethinking their whole business - one wonders why?

Good luck with getting the holiday you want.
But how can you know what you want till you get what you want and you see if you like it?

    I have my £2100 back...yahoo !!!!!
Went in this morning and they'd an an e-mail from regional manager asking them to e-mail this other department which has a 5 day turn around policy ...so left it that they'd phone me as soon as they got any further info.
DD2 and I tottered about town doing what we had to do and then went for brunch when amazingly I got a phone call asking if I was still in town(which I was) and was told it was sorted. So had lunch and went back to shop and got the money back in cash.
Apparently, when they sent e-mail to that dept they rang back within 4 mins discussed it and sorted relevant paperwork which was then sent to the branch...so am very happy that I've got it all back.
Have now got to send cancellation paperwork to the insurers and will lose about 50% of the premiuim paid which I will then have to claim back from TC.Obviously it's not the insurers fault as I've been covered for the last few months in case I had to cancel due to illness etc..am thinking of giving them a call to see if it would be better to just use it on another holiday....will have a think about that.
I'm not going to stress over it and will deal with it as it happens.
Tricia I've looked into booking separately on numerous occasions over the last 6 years but no other airline lands at Cayo Coco...I don't like TC anyway but seeing as we'd decided to go again they were the only option...I could've gone for 2 weeks but the re booking of it would be at the new prices which will be a lot higher than they were when we booked...but now seeing as we aren't going there then we'll just get a last minute booking.
Why they have done this nobody knows but I think it will be the end of them.Peoples weddings are being ruined as well...it's a truly awful situation.

You're friend will be perfectly ok going with TC in September as that is still classed as the summer season so she is unaffected.
As for your honeymoon as you haven't booked it yet you will only be able to book what they are selling.
I initially found rumours on trip advisor then went to my travel agent who I hasten to add knew nothing about it...she has found out the info and TOLD ME.
the situation for Cuba for this winter season is
    Cayo Coco ...fortnightly
    Varradero....not going
    Cayo Santa Maria...not going
    holguin..not sure

    Then
    DOM REP SOUTH...NOT GOING
    JAMAICA...NOT GOING
    CANCUN..FORTNIGHTLY

that's a lot of changes...so those with 7,21 night holidays won't be going as they don't fit in the schedule.
And obviuosly all the ones booked to the places that they are not going to won't be going but a lot of them won't know that yet:eek::eek::eek::eek:

No worries Tricia...I can get anywhere else I want to in Cuba with other airlines..just not to Cayo Coco.
I've tried sky scanner and the only flights out of the uk are TC.
