first choice and thomsons are tied in together
thomas cook is nothing to do with them and only TC fly to Cayos...so no other airline...I never wanted to travel TC in the first place but had no choice as they are the only ones that go there...they took my money for a booking that doesn't exist...am so angry.

Taxi that is so disappointing for you especially as this holdiay seemed to signify so much more to you than 'just' a holiday if you see what I mean..from reading your diary your holiday represented the end of a long battle from the initial shock and then the long battle of you fighting cancer and also your weight loss so I can understand how angry you feel especially as they are being very incompentant and unprofessional about the whole thing.

HOWEVER please don't let this bring you down. Maybe write a letter of complaint and then let it go because you and your health do not deserve to feel anger its not good for you and remember that as disappointing as it is the world is still your oyster. You can actually afford to go anywhere you want in the world if you think about it and there is so much to see and choose from. Maybe you were never meant to visit somewhere you have been before maybe you are meant to experience another part of the world to celebrate your health and your weight loss and to enjoy time with your DH.

You will choose somewhere that is wonderful for you and you can pay cash for it and it will be a fantastic time you will make sure of it. This is a position I am sure you would have loved to be in a few years ago re the debt issues I mean, so don't let the holiday company spoil your new found freedom from money worries and your plentiful choices that it brings.

Thomas Cook are not worth stress or anger..place your complaint and let it go for your own well being and look forward with your wad of cash to planning another adventure, you deserve. Enjoy x

Yep, well said, KM - but Taxi, this is *so* disappointing, you love Cuba so much .... have you thought about going somewhere else in Cuba? It can't be more of a risk than getting something to somewhere you don't know at the last minute....

Thank you...that sums everything up perfectly.:D:D:D:D

I am not going to stress about it and will be happy to get my money back.

My branch of TC are doing everything they can to speed things up:T:T When the manager hadn't phoned back this afternoon I popped into branch to see what was happening as soon as I mentioned Cuba she knew why I was there and apologised for not phoning me...the reason being that she could not get through on the phone to them:eek::eek::eek::eek:....whilst I was there she fired off an e-mail to the regional manager to try and get her to sort it and apparently she's meant to be very good and can press buttons and get stuff sorted quickly....the manager says she will contact me as soon as she hears something back but to pop in anytime if I need to check anything...also the lady that dealt with me saturday and who's day off it was today phoned her manager to make sure she'd picked up the message she'd left for her....so I can't ask for more...such a pity TCs doesn't run the whole organisation on this level of service..
Am in town tomorrow with DD2 so will pop in for an update.

Was looking last night at FC website at the last minute deals for the next 6 weeks and found a couple of good deals to Varradero at a hotel I want to stay at ...popped in FC shop today and they will match web price...probably won't go on one of those this year but was really tempted...lol
Don't feel comfy going just yet as my hair hasn't grown yet and still very over weight but know for sure that I'm only going last minute from now on...saw a couple of good deals for Turkey too.
Will just get my money back and keep adding to it and decide when I'm ready when/where.
Here's hoping to some news tomorrow...am going to carry on with my weight loss as well xxx
thanks everyone else that has commented.

There looks some lovely hotels in Varradero, had not been the ash cloud, I was booked in to Ibeorstar Tanios, the hotel in Tunisia was from the Ibeorstar group, and found it really good quality.

There seems to be some good deals to Turkey at the mo, I know what you mean re weight, but you've lost 10% of your target and that is brilliant, hope it gets sorted soon.

  • Thats the Taxi spirit!

It seems a bit odd that TC are pulling out of long haul, what about honeymoons etc, they are going to miss a huge part of the market.

FC/Thomsons/Tui hotels are really nice especially the Riu chain.

Absolutely! This is definitely the biggest "change" I have made in my life over the last year or so.....and very definitely has paid huge dividends one way or another.
