Brilliant stuff on the 3lb loss Taxi - you're doing fabulously!

I reckon the £50 food budget should be quite easily doable - it works out as roughly £2.38 per person, per day. We've been working to a budget of £1.50 per person, per day here for the last little while and although it's gone off the rails a bit this month until now I've managed to get either below, or only just over, that figure each month. I've found the absolute key thing to be the meal-planning though, without that it all goes very pear-shaped!

MMM..my food budget was way over this morning..spent £71 in Asda..lol..that'll teach me going shopping first thing in the morning without a list ..oops

I'll not be going to Asda next week so won't be distracted.I have Aldi and Lidl very close to me so will be using them instead.I won't need so much next week as stocked up on lentils and the gravy we get whilst at Asda as can't get those in Aldi and Lidl.

I've been up since 3am and am tired now but I've washed pots, done shopping, filled my car, done all the online banking, cooked a stew...that's enough now for a few hours.

Bah to getting carried away with food shopping - that is why I have gone off the rails this month! I think I need to increase our budget a little when we come back from holidays though as the current figure is just going to be too low when I will have a freezer to re-stock and dry-stores running down too. I've considered the idea of doing a month with all the shopping from Lidl or similar to see if it works out cheaper for us - at the moment I am doing quite a bit of shopping about though which ought to work out better in theory.

I can't buy everything in lidl and Aldi but can buy most stuff..it's getting expensive fuel wise running around different shops for bargains but lidl and Aldi are only a few minutes walk from here...fruit and veg shop quite often has bargains but food in general seems to have gone expensive.I won't scrimp on food though as my health is important..it's just getting stuff at the best value and quality for my money.I've found Tesco meat to be poor quality whereas morrissons has been better quality...it's no worries if I can't shop for £50 per week but am looking forward to the challenge.
