I read your post and immediately got up, dressed etc. did asda, and the bank. I am struggling with motivation issues/chemo side effects (which arent that bad) and a house lying like a pig sty as we try to move out to a smaller house.
I understand what you mean about confidence too.

    So thanks for that!

I can see why you'd struggle Troy...I was the same through treatment and spent months in the house where my only outings would be to the hospital.Just do what you can when you can and no more.I do feel for you...how many more chemos have you got left?

I was just about to say about the pain management clinic and others have mentioned it too. Not all hospitals offer it and it can be hard to get a referral but I heard someone talking about it the other day who is in remission from prostate cancer who has severe back pain and cannot take the tablets. They said it is making an amazing difference.

I did pain managment clinic - had a referral from GP, it was semi helpful, they looked at my mediciation, thou it had to go back to the GP before I was prescribed it.
For me it was a 50/50, I've got a friend whos on it at the moment and shes been referred to an in-house rehabilitation programe, and finding it useful

Thats brilliant news about getting out in the car, every little bit helps, come summer - your be packing the picnics and off you go. xx

Morning all...little and often is definitely the way to go...and you're right I've not got to beat myself up over it either. It is hard getting out the door sometimes as well as I've lost a lot of my confidence....but that means things can only improve from now on.Hope everyone is ok.

Little and often, as and when - these things are "sayings" because they're really true. I'm sorry you've lost confidence, Taxi, don't push it too hard, it will return - just a little bit when you can, thats all you need.

I can only stand still for a few minutes or walk not very far but am trying.

I guess as the weight comes off I'll be able to walk and exercise more.Am going to see the DR about pain management or to see what he suggests...so looks like a long slow recovery but I'll get there.

There is such a lot of courage in these posts Taxi. You have the determination to succeed and you WILL! My friend's Mum has lost 9 stone over the last couple of years and now she can exercise it has made so much difference to her self esteem - and joints.
As KC says, little and often is all you need, then that little bit will gradually become a little bit more and a little more often and gradually your confidence will return.

We are all rooting for you - good luck tomorrow, once you start losing weight you'll be on a roll and ready for Cuba :) xx
  • Good luck tomorrow taxi. DD goes to ww and now only has a few pounds to lose before she's a gold member, then I can stop paying the fees for her :j I'm a gold member too. I liked the previous points system but since they changed over to this one DD has said she finds it better and seems to be getting more for her points.
There's also a ww thread on mse isn't there, for a bit of moral support.
Great news that you had a spin in the car. That will make such a difference to your daily life :)
    Take care

Taxi, little and often as you say..........................I think you have achieved a fantastic amount this last year and you should remind yourself of that a lot and more often.

Good luck tomorrow and yes you can go to another class to be weighed. (As an aside I paid for 10 weeks in advance which gives you 2 free classes and you get a free points calcualtor, which I have found invaluable...........though maybe thats only an offer over here!)
