Very true, the number of times I've heard NHS/PCT/LA lately say "temporary" about the budget cuts!
They would be temporary if people's wishful thinking would come true. But it won't.*rolls eyes through lack of emoticon*
It is a pain in the rear end that..."Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)

Brain boggles with it all- makes for extremely interesting reading though, so thank you.
Hope you are well Taxi. xxBlackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?

Maybe we should pull together a buzzword bingo game before then?
Good planJust be careful you don't damage your entitlement to benefits with that...
Damned if you do and damned if you don't
 oh no, I was planning to stuff any spare cash in an ISA which I believe are exempt from the 'income' bracket of entitlement to Tax Credits - that's the only benefit I get & it's based on my income which an ISA isnt. I think ...
Shall stuff my mattress instead then0 -
Wow...my thread has got all grown up and serious.....lol
You are a very clever man ZTD...I wish my brain would work properly.I'm of the same opinion as Lula in that things will get really tough..the cost of everything is rising and there have been wage freezes in a lot of places but people can only stretch their money so far.More businesses will shut down meaning less money to the government in taxes and more job losses. The government will be paying out more dole money.
I also think that people are spending now but come january things will seriously start to slide.0 -
I can't believe what they did to your thread, Taxi :rotfl: If I see this kind of stuff on tv (well, while I still had a tv) I switch it off, you know, my brain can't cope with this kind of stuff :rotfl:2023: the year I get to buy a car0

Lula you are totally correct on the ISA regarding tax credits.
If you needed to go on Income support, housing benefit, council tax benefit then your capital savings are taken into account thus reducing your entitlement to benefit.
Take for instance ESA...the new contribution based sickness benefit that replaced incapacity benefit at this moment in time it is irrelevant what savings you have you still get it...so my savings are ok.
Come 2013/2014...this all changes...even though I've paid my contributions I wouldn't get it because of savings.
So as z says damned if you do damned if you don't0 -
Karma...it does boggle the mind but is very interesting especially when MPS were questioned about the national debt and didn't know the difference between deficit and debt total. They actually thought the deficit amount was the debt total...what hope have we when they don't understand it...lol0
