never been to Pontins myself but guess a few MSERs would...the adminstrators are saying bookings will be honoured and they're looking for another company to take them over so guess it will be Haven or similar..that's if they're interested.

Well according to the various scare stories in the media, the Government cuts are going to drop 1.4 million people onto the unemployment lines - do you really want to buy more holiday places under those circumstances?

Not unless the price was really, really right - and with a Brucie Bonus on top... ;)

Never been, I know the one they have in Prestatyn is in dire need of repair, and revamp, if you can remember the "On the Buses" - they did 3 spin off films and one was "Holiday on the Buses", was based at Prestatyn, when we have stayed at Haven at Prestatyn, the bus does the tour round the back end of Pontins, from that view - nothings really changed.

Think Pontins never really moved with the changes, where as Butlins branched out to Hotels etc. Just hope anyone gets sorted with their holidays x

Well strictly speaking (with an economist's hat on  ) it shouldn't. The public sector doesn't spend any money it hasn't taken from someone else (it's the ultimate non-profit), so the amount of money around should remain the same.

their wages may come from taxes or elsewhere(borrowed money) but those civil servants with no job won't be going out drinking, eating in restaurants, getting taxis to work ,buying clothes etc etc so will have a hit on other businesses.
there are no private sector jobs...they are looking to lose 1000 jobs in our council offices.

But the money taken from the private sector in taxes, means that the private sector can't afford to employ people. Those people not employed won't be going out drinking, eating in restaurants, getting taxis to work ,buying clothes etc etc.

It's a bit like stopping your kids pocket money. For every pound they lose, you gain - it doesn't disappear.

Going into debt to spend now and pay later actually reduces the amount you can spend over your lifetime as you pay interest charges which accrue no benefit to you.

the problem arises when the person is neither employed by the private or public sector and then has to live on benefits then that person can't spend.
the private sector would still be paying the tax they were paying ...as nothing has changed for them.
the public sector worker would not be paying tax as they are not working and would be getting benefits out of the tax payer system...this is assuming that the private sector has no jobs for them..thus not saving a great deal on the wage bill...
so whatever is left is in the goverments pocket not the wider economy....

or is my chemo brain compltely off course

the real savings are to be had at the top of the public sector in the non jobs/quangos rather than on the front line
