DH is on his way home as the computer system is down...he went to fill up at Asda and the pumps aren't working...the staff said something to do with power surges..

he's just gone to the chippy to get us some tea and hopefully the system will be up and running soon

  • I saw that on the news too L - it really was bad up there wasn't it. Glad you're all OK and have managed to catch up with some sleep now. Hope your power surges don't come to anything more than flickering lights. :)

thanks all ...really enjoyed my tea fish, chips, peas and curry sauce...yum.
DH has gone to work as system is back up and running...so hopefully that'll stay on...
    we still have lights.
just looked on the national grid and there are a lot of high voltage shortages preston, southport, wigan areas etc so may be a knock on effect from those areas.

there was a lot of damage to the illuminations and lytham windmill...the illuminations damage was on the tableaux which are very expensive to repair..can't see the council being able to fix them with all the cuts.

just been reading about the Pontins group being in administration..didn't think places like that would go bust...

Yes, I heard that there is £million worth of damage to the illuminations caused by the 100mph wind. It felt that fast here last night. I woke expecting to see a chimney stack in the garden!

    Chippy tea sounds yummy :D

never been to Pontins myself but guess a few MSERs would...the adminstrators are saying bookings will be honoured and they're looking for another company to take them over so guess it will be Haven or similar..that's if they're interested.
