I managed to pick up a bread maker cheap at a charity shop a couple of years ago, they are just great and recommend everyone to get one, just for the smell of freshly cooked bread alone!

Cheers OP:beer: Just been to Chesterfield to pick mine up and have put a loaf in already. Excellent bargain and the man in the shop said he had got another 4 to be collected. I've been making my own bread for over a year now but this is going to free up so much of my time that I can spend down my allotment:j

Just checked the stock at Mansfield and Chesterfield and it's OOS at both but I have a reservation number for Mansfield store if someone wants it then drop me a PM and I'll give you the details.
"Who’s that tripping over my bridge?" roared the Troll.
"Oh, it’s only me, the littlest Billy-goat Gruff and I’m going off to the hills to make myself fat"

We've been baking bread most days for over 8 years- absolute Godsend with a family of five now! We've known a lot of people who have breadmakers but don't use them much is at all- I suspect a lot of it is down to the quality of the bread that they've made with it.

I'd be tempted to spend money on a quality model rather than get a cheap one.

We've had one breadmaker during that time-all we've had to do is replace the bread pan about 2 years ago (about £30). We were advised to get a Panasonic which was recommended to us. It's certainly not a £13.99 breadmaker (more like £70) but if you're serious about baking then we think it is really worth the extra money.

We've also hit on a recipe which bakes great bread every time. Put the ingredients in in this order:

    3/4 tsp of dried yeast
400g flour (white or brown- half and half for a wholemeal or 300g white/100g brown for a loaf with a nice edge)
    1 tsp salt
1 tbsp dark brown mollases sugar
    1 tbsp olive oil
    300ml water

4 hour bake (overnight)- job done!

I believe this breadmaker is not a 'cheap £13.99' one but just very heavily discounted due to re-branding........

I ordered mine this morning and received my email confirmation etc. Then 5 minutes ago I had a phonecall to say very sorry but actually they didn't have any in stock. I explained that the website showed that there were more in stock but she said she couldn't find them..... Then she suggested I might like the display model so I've asked her to reserve it for me tonight to inspect - fingers crossed I'll get a further discount for the lack of box!! :D
"Buy me, Lady", said the frock, "and I will make you into a BEAUTIFUL & WHOLE & COMPLETE human being".
"Do not be silly", said the Man, "for a frock alone cannot do that".
"True", said the Lady, "I will have the shoes and the bag as well".
    :rotfl:
  • I managed to get one this morning. A bit of hassle, the website saying my E Mail address wasn't valid so I went into the local store as it said in stock.
None on the shelves but I noticed what appears to be an identical one with the brand name LOGIK on it. It doesn't show up on Currys website so is this the rebranded model? ( Priced at £39.99 BTW)
When I went to customer services there were 6 Carlton breadmakers behind the counter and after some shuffling around the assistant could only find 4 valid reserved ones so I got mine.
If you go down to the woods today you better not go alone.
