rent in advance / benefits?

Hi all looking for some advice i am due to move out of my property next week, my rent is paid by housing benefit but when i moved in i paid a month up front. now im wondering if i should get the month i paid in advance back as obviously my rent will be paid by benefits until the date i leave, hope this all makes sense im a little confused by it all and cant word what im trying to ifkwim lol

when tenants move out of property funded by housing benefit, it often takes the local council 2-3-4- weeks to pay the final amount - so landlords dont know for that length of time whether their rent account is up to date or not...
have you told the council that you are moving out...
you can ask your landlord if he will repay the last months housing benefit to you - as you paid in advance - or you can ask the local council to pay the last benefit to you and not to your landlord...
i hope you have a receipt for the first months rent you paid ?0 -
