Hi all after some advice on private renting,
Im currently private renting, my 6month contract was up 8months ago. I havent signed anything since, my question is im looking to move and the end of the month, therefore gave in my notice which is up on 8th August, if by any chance this new property falls through can the landlord make me leave at the end of my notice? also hes had someone intrested in the property already and has asked if they can come and view - do i have to let them view the property? ive been told i do not have to allow this until 14days before my notice is up, wheither this is right or wrong i do not know. I have tried conatcting my local housing advice centre but they didnt seem to no anything.
Any adice would be greatfully appreciated.

You are now on a statutory periodic tenancy, which means you have to give one month's notice to coincide with the rental period of the contract. So if the tenancy started on the 5th, you must give notice by the fourth and move out by the following fourth.
You do not have to let anyone do a viewing until you leave. However, it is polite if your landlord has treated you well to allow some time for viewings. The landlord may stall on giving you a reference if you don't, although they really shouldn't as you are entitled to 'quiet enjoyment' of the property.0 -

What happens if at the end of my notice i no longer want to move (if for example i dont get the other property) can he force me to leave? also we dont really have a relationship, we get on when he wants something but when i need something (like when the boiler broke or we had a leak - which i ended up etting fixed myself and having to redecorate the kitchen) hes not very reliable and is extremely hard to get hold off.Wins for 2011: ........................

He can choose at any time to give you 2 months notice on the same basis, so when you give notice he might issue notice too, or when you back out of moving and cause him problems with upsetting potential replacements he might give you notice anyway. So it's always best to be certain of your plans.
But nothing can physically get you out unless it's a court order, which will take another month or two after the tenancy was meant to end, so if anything falls through you won't be homeless right away.also we dont really have a relationship, we get on when he wants something but when i need something
That's a shame but it isn't really relevant to how you leave a tenancy. If you have problems regarding repairs in future, I recommend you read this:
