Hello im looking for some advice i was in a private rented house for 6 months and owed the electricity company £309 when i left but i have now received a bill for almost £700, im completely shocked by this as while there we had no heating on at all as before we moved in the company had disconneted it (we were waiting for it to be reconnected but they never came out) and also had no washing machine.
so basically we only used the electricity for the fridge, tv, microwave, lights etc our hot water was heated by the log burner and our heat from that and the coal fire.
i think this is eteremly high! if we had the heating, hot water and washing machine then i would expect it to be this high but without these things i finding it difficult to believe the price!
is there anyway i can get them to send me proveof usage etc have asked but they seem to think tehy cant do this

Compare your starting meter reading with your departure reading, and work out whether they have billed you correctly. Was the bill for £309 based on an estimated reading, if not how can it now be £700? If you didn't pay the original bill they may have added late payment charges after 6 months.
How can you heating have been disconnected on it's own, either your electricity is disconnected or it's not?No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -

You are entitled to a breakdown of the £700 they are demanding.
This is usully in the form of a bill. If you've not received that, they should be able to supply a copy."Now to trolling as a concept. .... Did you read the meters when you moved in and moved out and give both to the energy supplier? Did you ask to go onto a competitive tariff or did you stay on standard (expensive) tarrif? Didn't you pay anything during the tenancy?Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0
