    Hi Inactive,

As I dont represent Sky I cannot comment on their compatibility, I only used the information provided by the OP

As I have advised if there is any issues with the Phone Line we would always remove the Sky box as this is unsupported equipment. TT cannot support issues with a Sky Box or any unsupported dialling equipment. In the event of any issues we can only refer to the manufacturer regarding compatibility issues.

The Talk Talk representative is saying that $ky equipment is not compatible with their LLU lines.

The truth is that their lines are incompatible with $ky equipment.

Moral of the story: don't allow your line to be unbundled to any of these jokers. (The infantile posts of the Talk Talk representative must tell you something.)

Buy cheap, buy twice. The same principle applies to LLU.

Exactly, I agree, but it easy to blame Sky of course, strange that there has never been a compatibility problem with any Sky Receiver until Talk Talk came on the scene.

Hi will-in-estoril,I am not commenting on the compatibility of the Sky Equipment with TT lines, I have only advised that in the event of issues with TT lines Sky boxes are not supported equipment and this is discounted as part of the diagnostic processes. As such I have not commented on the compatibility of sky boxes and TT lines, just that this is not a supported piece of equipment in terms of faults with a TT line.In terms of any billing issues Skullcreature we would need to check these individually via the TalkTalk Members Forum. I presume however that your Sky multiroom is working as you have not referred to any issues in terms of functionality? It may be a case of too high a REN value caused by multiple pieces of equipment connected to the line.TT lines have a REN value of 4, if the total of your sky boxes, routers, phones, alarm boxes etc connected to the phone line is in excess of a REN value of 4 then you will see some performance issues with equipment. This may be the cause for those customers affected. This can be verified by checking the REN value of each piece of equipment on the line.RegardsM:)

BT & Virgin also have REN values of 4 and their equipment works perfectly well with Sky boxes.

The Sky box only has a REN value of 0.5 so will have very little impact on the phone line. More importantly the REN value is only relevant to the ringing of incoming calls and as the Sky box does not contain any ringer it has no bearing whatsoever on the fact that a callback cannot be made over TT equipment.

With all due respect, this is not something an official TT rep should be using as an excuse.

    Hi Jem,

I am not using this as an excuse, only as generic advice to those who may be encountering issues as this maximises the number of people who may benefit from the comment.

In alot of cases customers have multiple equipment on the line and not be aware of REN. As such is the REN value of all equipment is too high issues with Sky boxes may be resolved by removing additional phones etc from the line. You will note I did not limit my advice re REN values to just the SKY boxes for this very reason.

In my experience I have a single corded handset, HG520b router and a Sky box connected to an LLU line. I have not had any issues with the Sky box, although my phone line is subject to occasional interference.

    Regards

I would suggest that you get your telephone line provider to sort that out, or change to a decent supplier.;)

As Inactive suggests, you might want to get this looked at. It's certainly not a good advert for your supplier.

My BT line has a single corded handset, a DECT base unit, a Thomson ADSL router, PC modem and 2 Sky boxes attached to it with no issues.

    Hi Guys,

I appreciate your concern however I have already raised this and the interference itself isn't a result of the supplier. The issue, which I am fully aware of having investigated this with the TalkTalk Faults Teams, is actually caused by people. The issues have a tendency to correlate to Friday/Saturday nights as I live in a Town Centre location.

As such there is little gained from me raising this again to my supplier (i.e. TalkTalk) as the issue is not with the service as supplied. Likewise as the issue is on the BT Open Reach maintained wiring coming into my property, but not as a result of normal wear and tear as covered by BTORs minimum service obligations, I would be subject to any engineer charges.

A far more effective method is to be vigilant of the presence of individuals around my property as the phone line is on an external pavement adjacent wall. In the event this resulted in a complete loss of service and an engineer visit, I would be liable for the engineer charges due to the vandalism caused to my line being beyond BTOpen Reach's control.

As a related issue Ive also had occasional issues with my Sky box connection, again however this is a result of the cable from my Sky box to the Dish being on the same wall and subject to the same human interference i.e "what happens when I pull this"

As such I have received all the support I require from my service providers to establish the cause of these issues. I have only given an open and honest account of my experience in respect to the issues raised.

    Regards
