If you can't get out of the bath on your own, don't get in it when you are alone
I live alone. Would it be best to just stop washing most days? Or should I exadgerate my care need beyond it's real level to get a SS funded live-in carer? What do you think would be best?advertise in your local post-office/newsagents/jobcentre, and employ a cleaning lady to come and do these type of things for you once/twice a week
Would love to, who do you know will work for a fraction of the minimum wage and how do I avoid prosecution?I refuse to be afraid of the big bad wolf, spiders, or debt collection agencies; one of them's not real and the other two are powerless without my fear.
(Ok, one of them is powerless, spiders can be nasty.)
As of the last count I have cleared [STRIKE]23.16%[/STRIKE] 22.49% of my debt.

Would it not be easier to get an OT assessment where you could actually get an aid to help you get in and out the bath without feeling the need to lie.I live alone. i really think a OT assement could make a big difference to you, i have a silly bath 16inchs high, ot wasnt happy about it was given a battery powered chair but because the bath was so low it barely covered my ankles so i couldnt wash my hair,
OT now has changed it to a bath board and a little seat far better as i can do most things alot easyer0 -

Hannah, Many people keep themselves clean without actually getting into a bath. If you cannot get out of the bath, you are putting yourself in danger by getting into it in the first place. I have suggested an option. Avoid bathing alone (wash at the sink, or bathe when your boyfriend is actually visiting), for 5 weeks, save up your DLA, and get a bath lift.Would love to, who do you know will work for a fraction of the minimum wage and how do I avoid prosecution?
DLA Care component in your situation = £71 per week (as you stated above). You should be able to get a cleaner for somewhere between £8 - £12 per hour (well above the minimum wage). That would mean that you could get 4 or 5 hours cleaning a week easily from DLA, or maybe 3 hours (time enough to deal with one persons laundry) , leaving you money over for other things.
Isn't that what the DLA is for ??I try not to get too stressed out on the forum. I won't argue, i'll just leave a thread if you don't like what I say.

I don't get in the bath if there's nobody nearby to help me. I get my big beach towel and lay it on the bed, bring my little bowl of water and soap, then get on the towel and sponge myself clean. I admit it is nowhere near the joy of laying in a hot bath but it's nice to be clean. Sometimes I don't even dry myself with a towel - I just lay there until I dry then get dressed. I have on occasion fallen asleep while laying there...Only 3% of those registered blind in the UK have zero vision.0 -
I was born with Trechology of Fallots, and problem with my lungs. About 4 years ago I had surgery on my heart and ended up with collapsed lungs and breathing difficultys that prevent me from walking to the shops and back without having to stop. Even now I am sitting here and finding it hard to brreathe. I am high rate care and low rate mobility. I have recieved an indefinate award as I have struggled with this for a while. I have a friend who I pay out of my DLA to help me clean my house and to drive me long distances. No Spend November 2/15 and SPC 1340

To all above...
1. Thats because you all dont understand what will happen.
2. Where is your evidence far to many people are getting DLA for minor issues.
3. Fraud on DLA is 0.5 percent, they have decided ALREADY, 3 years in advance of any tests, that 20 percent of claimaints are going to be removed from the benefit.[greenhighlight]but it matters when the most senior politician in the land is happy to use language and examples that are simply not true.

Which is exactly what they are supposed to do.
What would you prefer, that they ignored what the claimaint said, and just made things up, they would be operating in the same manner as ATOS then...[greenhighlight]but it matters when the most senior politician in the land is happy to use language and examples that are simply not true.

I would have no problems with a medical if they were carried out by a qualified consultant who had access to my medical records - in my case, opthamologist and psychiatrist
You mean, like the CURRENT system, where for DLA you can already use medical evidence provided by those people for your claim, and it can be used as evidence, and is given proper weight as evidence.
Once the changes come in for DLA, ATOS will do the medicals (although they are not actually medicals at all) and ATOS reports will be the primary, overiding source of evidence, and will outrule and specialist evidence you provide.[greenhighlight]but it matters when the most senior politician in the land is happy to use language and examples that are simply not true.

A university education does not teach the wording required for a decision maker, who is probably thicker than a plank of wood.[greenhighlight]but it matters when the most senior politician in the land is happy to use language and examples that are simply not true.
