What is it with Landlords and integrated appliances!

We're in the process of looking for a bigger house. Not having just left home, I have my own fridge freezer, washing machine, cooker and dishwasher.

Fair enough the fridge freezer can go in a corner somewhere, even if it' in the lounge, we're finding it isn't big enough anyway.

My cooker however, is a good one. It's Zanussi, only a year old. I don't want to get rid of it or cook in a single oven with a built in grill that will probably break in a year and then I'll have to replace.

That's the rub of it really. They put cheap appliances in which are a step down from what I've got!

Landlords: Some of us want to be able to use our own stuff! Stop integrating rubbish cookers already

Sorry rant over. Just seems you can choose between houses with 80's kitchens or pants cookers!

What, everyone moving into a rented house is fresh out of uni?

I'm only 25 but we are a household of 5 (soon to be 6) and I cook a LOT. I can't be the only person that wants to make cheese on toast now and again without it taking 5 years

ETA: I wish I had a punchline :rotfl:

    What's a PAT test?

I know the guy has previously looked at my old one when I had a gas safety inspection.

My new one is electric and I've never had other appliances of mine inspected except in a HMO Hostel.

Integrated appliances are a pain for landlords as they are more difficult and expensive to replace in a hurry when they break.

Sarah Beeny says a plain white kitchen coordinates with cheap white freestanding appliances, and she's right.

You are certainly not the only one.

I have a Dishwasher and tumble dryer, im resigned to the fact im going to have to lose one of them ( soon to an ebay page near you)

I dont have a cooker, but I share your pain. The worst of it is I see the same ovens Ive used before and I KNOW they are crap.

*wants a great property to fall out of the sky with area for my DW, a great cooker, a sink thats not perched on the edge of a work surface, enough work to to make a meal, tiles that look like theyve been laid sometime in the last 10 years, all within a small budget in London*

Some of the ktchens Ive seen on rightmove are SO dire I cant say.

I cna put up with a crap bathroom but had so many terrible kitchens before I cant handle it again, but fear Im going to have to :(
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
    This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast

It's not just landlords. It happens when you buy a house too. We had to give up excellent quality appliances of our own and take on crap integrated ones when we bought our current house. In the end the only thing we could do with them was freecycle - no time to ebay them and with the exception of the freezer, no room to store them either - which was nice for someone else. But now the crap integrated ones are nearly 2 years old and hey ho they are going to have to be replaced. Bye bye doors and hello unintegrated.

I guess that is one advantage of buying your own property?
