Teeny Tiny KFC vent and warning!

Ok, so today was my nephew's first last day of school (he is 5) and my brother and sister in law were both working (one is usually off when the other isn't) but they didn't want to leave it uncelebrated so they asked me to pick him up and let him choose anything he wanted for dinner and an activity for afterwards. So little dude chooses KFC  as he has never been there before (we aren't too keen on junk food in our family) and he felt a bit left out among his school friends. After his mum dropped off his little sister (age 2.5) on the way to work, I picked him up from school and we all went to the aquarium (the kid is mad on fish) and on the way home we stopped at the KFC drive thru.

We gave our order and got to the collection window where the man serving said he had already given me my food (he had only given me drinks) and wouldn't take my word that he hadn't given me anything. I actually ended up having to pretend to look for it (meanwhile little princess is getting overheated and is trying in vain to bust out of car seat). Eventually KFC man realises he gave our order to another customer so all hell breaks loose in the kitchen and the cars are all queuing up behind. After a fair wait, we get our order and we get to my family's home. My sister in law had said it was alright to give my niece some KFC if she wanted to try it so I had ordered a small popcorn chicken for her to try and and gave her some of my chips. The reason I picked the popcorn chicken was because there were no bones and it was bite-sized. Anyway, she didn't want to try it but we did that "I try one, you try one." thing. It was going fine but I bit into the third piece and ended up biting on something hard and sharp. TBH I was scared to look (did I say I'm not into junk food?) but when I did there was a bone just over an inch in size and about the width and similar shape to a toothpick. I'm just so grateful that it wasn't the LO who got that piece because it was bloody lethal looking :(! So I ended up having to take each piece of the popcorn chicken apart to see if there were any bones my niece could choke on and I watched my nephew like a hawk. It put me off the rest too. Unfortunately little dude loved it :o.

I'm not going to bother complaining to KFC, but I don't think I'll be back any time soon!

As with anything animal/fish based it can contain bones, unlikely but it can happen

I didn't think popcorn chicken was big enough to have an inch long bone in it?

KFC are quite good at customer service, drop them an email and they will almost certainly send you some vouchers :D

From what I can figure out it was long ways rather than width and this particular piece was probably about an inch and a half long. An inch isn't very big...

*Gags* Thanks but I doubt I'd be using them :D. I kind of feel like I want to vacum clean my intestines now. That would be far more appreciated than that crappy little wet wipe they give you .

You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride

TBH, because its not something I had before I was expecting to get posts saying "oh yeah, it happens all the time you stupid person" but I suppose I'm relieved it doesn't. I still can't quite understand how it happened myself..

Yeh its quite rare tbh, especially in popcorm which is far more "processed" than the normal chicken breast. I just like zinger burgers. mmmmm.

A piece of Popcorn Chicken is approx a 1cm round ball (or less). Inch - Inch and a half?!?!? Don't think so. :rotfl:
I spent 25 years in the mobile industry, from 1994 to 2019. Worked for indies as well as the big networks, in their stores also in contact centres. I also hold a degree in telecoms engineering so I like to think I know what I’m talking about 😂
