I've got the Galaxy S, and a know a few friends who have got them too.
The "death grip" is really hard to do, it's certainly not a natural hold and it still doesn't drop the calls. In regards to the Samsung support, I was also a little worried, but so far there has been something like five "unofficial" firmware updates, two this week. Apparently Samsung is going big for android and now have two R&D departments working on android and the Galaxy S is their flagship device0 -
looks like samsung is taking the samsung galaxy s launch seriously. just recently the invested more than 2 billion dollars to speed up production of super amoled screens. they are supposedly trying to take the lead in the smartphone market since they make most of the hardware for most of the phone companies anyway! and not to mention hardware for TVs / computers / cameras etc too.
this launch is big as ALL the usa networks are launching some variant of the samsung galaxy s on their networks. all of them see this as a serious contender for a flagship phone. no one for the next 1.5 years is expected to be able to launch super amoled screens other than samsung. the touchwiz 3.0 software interface is miles better than older samsung software as per most reviews by gadget magazines and many websites now rate this as the flagship android phone although some still place others like the evo or desire higher.
everything is going wireless and this is the only phone capable of DLNA as far as i know. you name it and it has the latest specs in hardware and software. it might need a bit of polishing but this is a serious contender.
individual preferences might differ but if one jots down hardware requirements, and ticks it off then one will be hard pressed to leave any box empty on this phone. but i am sure pretty soon there will be better ones around, the galaxy s pro is to launch soon too with hardware slide out keyboard and many great models from htc and motorola in the pipeline among others.bubblesmoney :hello:0 -

As far as DNLA is concerned, I think "there's an app for that" (like how I did that??!!) on the market place for other android phones.

I guess you are referring to the ftp apps on the market for transfering files to and from the phone.bubblesmoney :hello:0 -
Hate Samsung's
Horrible phones, I wouldn't have one even through there giving them away!0 -
I must admit, I really do love the Galaxy S. It's a thousand times more reliable than the iPhone 4. Unless something amazing comes out soon, it'll be my next phone.Have I helped? Feel free to click the 'Thanks' button. I like to feel useful (and smug).0

What would be your top 5 "MissKeith Recommenations" on current phones and why?
You get to see all the new phones as they come in and go out, so it would be useful to get some inside knowledge!!In the beginning, the universe was created. This made a lot of people very angry and was widely regarded as a bad move. The late, great, Douglas Adams.0 -

I've just got one as a freebie for a broken HTC HD2 that they couldn't repair. Seems quite good so far.0
