Have just received the USB stick, in an A4 padded envelope with nothing else in it.

When putting this into the computer it wants me to install software for the stick! It is not showing in "My Computer," and I am wondering if I should continue with the software installation?

I have ever had to do this with any previous USB sticks whether free or purchased, and they have always been showing on "My Computer".

as above they will offer you more issues for £1.

I have done this one and received magazine but not USB. Based on Aesop's reply above, hopefully it will arrive in the next month.

Just received my USB stick for the Week, same as above, in padded envelope, nothing else. Not tried it in my machine yet.

just plugged my in, it automatically installs software for anything I plug into my laptop. Just checked it, all fine, scanned it for viruses, nothing, and USB blank.

So yes go ahead and install software.

Mine is not auto installing, it is setting up an installation Wizard and asking do I want to auto instal via the Wizard, I am just concerned about virus's etc as I have never been asked this on previous USB sticks. and all have been on "My Computer" straight away.

ah I see, well I have kaspersky which automatically asks me if I want to virus scan new software, so I said yes do full scan, and it was fine.

What virus software do you use? get it to scan it first.

I have Malwarebytes, AVG9 and Spybot S&D, (Malarebytes scanning my machine at the moment, but obviously not the stick as the scan was started a couple of hours ago), can't see how to scan it first as it is not appearing anywhere for me to scan it, any ideas?

do you have any more usb ports? take it out of the one you tried, and try another one. I find with different usbs for different things I use, some do not work well in one but better in other.

Just tried in 3 different ports, same result, opens Wizard and not showing in "My Computer", looks like I might just have to risk it, i just can't see why software has to be installed for a bog standard USB stick, I have not had to before.

sorry about that. might be a faulty usb.

after you have done software install, virus scan it, as it should definitely show then

Shortly after clicking install a window popped up with the following: -

The software you are installing for this hardware:

    USB Mass Storage Device

has not passed Windows Logo testing to verify its compatibility with Windows XP.

Continuing your installation of this software may impair or destablize the correct operation of your system either immediately or in the future. Microsoft strongly recommends that you stop this installation now and contact the hardware vendor for software that has passed Windows Logo testing.

    Continue anyway. STOP Installation.
