Morning all. I have no exact plans for the day but I am going to spend the next 30 minutes whizzing round the house trying to get as much done as possible so I can have a guilt free trip to the market.Organised people are just too lazy to look for things

Ahhh Moggins - could you put on your sturdiest pair of size sevens while I assume the position.
I have 'hit the wall' today (well last night if truth be known). I come home after a day's work and run around ike the blue a'd fly until 8 or 9 and it seems like I'm busting a gut just to stand still. Nothing is progressing, it's just getting back to 'not disgraceful'. Last night for example, did a DW and a WM load (amongst other things). By the time kids have gone to bed, there's another pile of clothes (that they've just taken off) and another pile of dishes (me and mrs Fly's dinner & DS snacks).
Can I have a day off? Or will that depress me even more tomorrow?
Motivation is dwindling rapidly......
Anyone?

I know that feeling TNG!
for me, this is when the fly lady approach comes into it's own. Don't try and do everything, decide your priorities, set a timer for 10 minutes to break it down into manageable chunks.
I'm such a hypocrite...why am I on the computer when I have so much to do! I had to type out a letter for someone, then I thought might as well check the forum before I start...famous last words!
Sure other people will have lots of motivating advice...
ok I'm switching off the computer now!weaving through the chaos...0 -

can i ask, wher do you start?
i tend to do jobs as they need doing and by then they take ages cos they are a mess. my ironing is left to grow, i do school stuff and uniforms sunday night with a few other bits so it never breaks the back of the mountian (pile is the wrong word-i vaguley remember a settee is under it somewhere)
i have been inspired by reading these threads in the last couple of weeks and i even printed a few lists of people had posted of daily tasks etc.
I've done some jobs i'd been avoiding like defrosting the freezer and my glass oven door is now spotless.
I can see keeping on top of it makes sense and once ive 'broken the back of it' it will be easier to keep the house in check but has anyone got advice on where to start.
I did put 3 large bin bags out for a charity collection yesterday stuff that DS2 and DD3 had outgrown but were still goood that i had no one to pass them on to-so they are steps in the right direction arent they?SPC~12 ot 124

yes course, anything is in the right direction!
Flylady.net suggests Zones, ie bathroom zone etc.
So what you can do is one day, break it down into manageabe chunks like
Clean tiles ( 20mins)
clean loo ( 5 mins)
quick swish & swipe round ( 10 mins)
clean bath (10 mins)
TA DA 45 mins, and the bathroom is pretty much clean, bar the floor. I did this last week, and now I do a quick swish round every day (or at least intend to!) , keeps on top of it
Timers are good. I dont bother as I have too short an attnetion span, but also most of my tasks are broken down into 5 minute jobs LOL, but you could do 45 mins of ironing then a 15 min sit down tea & MSE time
I guess it all depends how you best work, but flyladys real bottom line is short bursts of efforts, small mamageable tasks. Thus sense of achievement and not too overwhelmed.
Have a look up above , Ive nealry achieved half mny jobs today already LOL

Hi all I see lots of us are 'hitting the wall' - nicely put!
For the newbies - I was one last month I have one tip only (well it is in 2 parts) Start small - for me that was shining the kitchen sink and the basins and cleaning the loo then NEVER let that slip.
Next start small with the next task and you guess never let that slip. This has worked for me. I'm still not there with the whole house but now at least don't feel that the progress I have made is in vain.
Been to the allotment this morning so feel pleased with my little self. Off to school in a minute to cook a second world war cake with dried eggs and potato!
Will fly a bit later. Hugs to anyone who needs one.The birds of sadness may fly overhead but don't let them nest in your hair0 -
I've managed to do a few things this morning, nothing major but at least it's in the right direction :rotfl: I have;
Emptied and loaded the dw.
Put the wm on.
Cleaned the bathroom sink, shower and toilet.
Taken the rubbish out.
Shined the kitchen sink.0 -
With regards the ironing mountain, I plan from tomorrow:rolleyes: to iron whatever is dry that day, and to take 10 more items from the mountain and do those too. So each day I will be reducing the pile and not adding to it with the newer clean stuff.
Does that make sense:j0
