Not much flying done yet, DS has just gone to his dads but I am making tomato chutney as the bag of green tomatoes XDH gave me last week have all turned red so I thought I'd better use them up.Organised people are just too lazy to look for things
F U Fund currently at £2500 -
some of you ladies/men are amazing how much you get done!!
I can't quite seem to manage anywhere like as much as you all seem to get done and my home is rather unorganised alot of the time!!
I have gone onto the flylady web site and I am working through her babysteps programme that takes a month to complete if you do one new step each day. It doen't seem very overwhelming at all and I am unerstanding how this flylady thing actually works rather than feeling pressured to write a list of things to do and feeling a failure at the end of the day/week for not having got very far!!
I just thought I would mention this to you guys as it has helped me and there maybe others like me who have not been brave enough to contribute to this thread as they feel a bit of a failure (like me!!)
It is all about baby steps and it is amazing what you can get done in 15 mins! I use my timer lots now!
Good luck everyone wherever you are on the flylady journey and don't be afraid to start taking those first few baby steps!
Thanks for all the encouragement here and who knows I might actually join in properly next month!0 -
well to say i was taking it easiesh, if that is a real word, I have achieved what i set out to already, plus a bit more.
- washed my bedding. Now need to psyche myself up to put it back on.
- folded up DH's clothes that were finishing airing from yesterday. (strange man doesn't like them ironed, not that i am complaining)
- washed my dark clothes for work next week.
- washed a load of newborn baby clothes (a bit early i know but my sister is nagging at me to get my bag packed asap just in case i have an early labour. I know she's right really.)
- wrapped up my sisters birthday pressie for next week, and my wedding anniversary pressie (not for another 6 weeks, but again, want it out the way - plus stops DH peaking)
- got out my new cushions now the living room is almost there. They do look pretty.
- had to hoover the kitchen floor as i spilled washing powder, also got the cat biscuits.
- cleaned the sink/draining board/top of cooker.
- cleaned the shelves from inside the cooker
- took all plastic/tin/bottle/paper/cardboard recycling to garage.
- went through my christmas present box, to see where i was up to.
no doubt later this evening sis will have me packed up.
It's all little things but they sure do add up. furrypig have a look at what some people have achieved, and it is small jobs that help make all the difference.
e.g. load of washing, few minutes to find out what you want to put in, put it in the machine and set it going, sit on MSE while waiting for it to finish, or tackle another job, and then when it is done, force yourself to deal with it straight away. One job often leads to another, so if the weather is poor, i might need to empty the airer before i can empty the washer.
Also, while the kettle is boiling, can you wipe the sink round, or put away washing up, or collect tea towels together to wash, or wipe the side. It's all about being time savvy and achieving maximum results for minimum effort.

Hi all including you Furrypig.
Doing surprisingly well. Done all I planned to - just lettuce left to sow, may do this tomorrow morning as DS3 wants to help and he is shattered after first weeks with lunch at school.
Just plan to swish and swipe downstaris and upstairs loos and basins and later do ironing labelling.
Furrypig thanks for reminding me about the timer. Monday I am tackling my desk/family room which is a big task. I think that may help me - I'll let you know. The birds of sadness may fly overhead but don't let them nest in your hair0 -
Fourth load of washing about to go in the machine, hall and lounge carpets steam-cleaned, kitchen has started to be re-arranged ready for when I re-arrange the units - don't tell mr troo, he doesn't know yet
- the whole house has been hoovered. The pet cages have been cleaned out, most of my summer clothes have been put away, the wardrobe sorted out, I've made space for the iron and ironing in the bedroom (part of my totallychangethekitchen plan). I managed to squeeze in a film too, just watched Underworld Evolution - it was very good
Just the washing up to do, and get new bedding out of the shed for the animals. I taped Grey's Anatomy on thursday, I reckon I've got time to watch that tooBulletproof0 -
I am finding that just by daily swishing and swiping the bathroom and cloakroom and shining the sinks, the place is looking so much better.:jOur days are happier when we give people a bit of our heart rather than a piece of our mind.

Ok so i went a bit mad.
Stardrops rock
Today i deep cleaned the kitchen and boy did it need it!
Cleaned cupboards inside and out inc the tops, doors and underneath (boy that was scary!) wiping the bottom of the stuff so it didnt leave rings! Also ran the DW with things that needed a quick clean up. Humm the cutlery drawer was awful! Managed to throw 2 binbags full of stuff away of jars way past their BBD (like 2002!) which i think got opened once and sat there ever since! Threw away some tuperware that was cracked/missing lids, i can now get in that cupboard!
Cleaned the oven and all the trays
Cleaned the microwave
Cleaned behind the oven (found 3 wooden spoons and a spatula!)
Cleaned out the fridge freezer
Mopped the floor
Cleaned out the smelly bin, needed a clothespeg for that one!
Whilst at the same time running 4 loads of laundry
Then i thought i felt dirty and grimy so i went and had a shower noticed it really needed a proper clean so....
Bleached the grouting
Scrubbed the tiles, bath and sink
Cleaned the shower curtainy/screen thing
Cleaned the loo
And then promptly made it dirty having a shower!
Then demanded that OH hoovered downstairs and dusted whilst providing me with a glass of wine!
What a day! Glad to see everyone else is making progress. Good luck for next week!0 -
WOW Aimee! WELL DONE! All that was WAY beyond the call of duty! (and thanks for fessing up to what was behind the cooker too :T)
You definitely deserve that glass of wine.
I'm put to shame today - I've not done a darn thing. The reasonable man adapts himself to the world; the unreasonable one persists to adapt the world to himself. Therefore all progress depends on the unreasonable man.
