Hi,
Just wondering if anyone on here has gone through a divorce where they and their respective partner did it themselves?
How easy was it? What costs?
My ex and I want to get divorced, but talking to a solicitor it's going to cost more than the bloody wedding!!
Advice - Don't get married in Vegas!!!

I did it myself using forms from the Directgov site HERE
I think it was £400 and then another £40 when I collected the decree absoluteI am a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Wales, Small Biz MoneySaving, In My Home (includes DIY) MoneySaving, and Old style MoneySaving boards. Yes, as Glad says above, I sorted out my divorce myself. It wasn't difficult and saved me a fortune.
(I saw a solicitor initiailly, but he sent out a letter listing his costs which had 4 spelling errors in it! Figured I could do better on my own!)“I tell you, we are here on Earth to fart around, and don't let anybody tell you different.”

Apart from making him an 'ex' before he becomes my ex, what is the cheapest way I can get shot of this nightmare of a problem?
We've been totally separated for well over 3.5 years but lived separately in the same house for 9 months before that.
There are no kids, no assets to be divided, and the only money involved is the debts he left me with!
Any help on the quickest, the most clinically executed and the cheapest would be welcome.

Stab him with an icicle, straight through the heart and then let it melt away with the evidence.0

Go to your nearest family court office and ask for forms for the divorce petition and a clean break order.
I think you can download them off the court services website too.
Forms are free and all you will have to pay is the statutory court fees. Here I go again on my own....0 -
Total cost doing it yourself for the court fees is £380......ths includes the clean break consent order0

Many thanks for your help - I don't know why I didn't think of that in the first place.
Just had the dread picture of solicitors in me head and couldn't think straight.
Icicles - hmmmmmmmmm - it has possibilities but not until winter. Pity that, I had some stunners hanging from the guttering this year.0
