Hope it's just me but my Romantica Madrid has got terrible roll together. I turn it twice a month, the first I turn it over the 2nd time in the month I change it from top to bottom. I really look after it it has been covered from the start, it's been turned regularly and I hoover it.
I really thought I had got a mattress to really last, but not so sure now. Thanks for any help and advice given

I'm considering buying the Apollo Calypso 1500 mattress and read all the posts on here. I'm very confused as some reviews are positive and then the more recent posts suggest that the quality deteriorates after a couple of years. Is there anyone else who has had this mattress or complete divan set for a couple of years or more who can give me some feedback before I make a decision? much appreciated x0

See my post No. 41. This still applies. The base is still good but the mattress has lost support in some areas and the cover fastenings have come undone along one row. I tried without success to get some redress from the manufacturers, but they did not want to know as I had purchased the bed through a retailer called Furniture of Style, who had since gone out of business. My advice is to pay a bit more for a well respected manufacturer like Sealy, but don't just go for a name as some of the big named companies rely on their advertising. Try to get a rock solid guarantee of more than 1 year.
Which magazine did a report on beds which could be useful if you have access to their website. If not you can have a trial for £1 I believe."0844 COSTS YOU MORE"0 -
I purchased the Apollo calypso double matress back in Oct 2011 based on some comments on this forum. The mattress has generally been excellent, still extremely comfortable, no roll together ( though this may be partly due to the slatted base I have), no temperature problems etc.
The sole let-down is the choice of cover material. It has ripped and frayed in a few places around the edge seams and where the through ties penetrate in the centre rows. This has lead to the complete loss of two ties and the others have gradually had to be fished back out and re-inforced with additional fabric.
However even with that negative, I'm still happy with my choice.
By comparison, a relative recently spent some £2000+ on a mattress! and within few weeks experienced the same problem of the tie throughs pulling through the cover material. The difference being a man with needle and thread was out the next day to fix it for them.
Overall for the money, and the little maintenance I've had to do, I don't think it's done badly, and already lasted longer than most matresses I've slept on before the springs started poking through. (the Apollo still going strong and hopefully to continue so for a few more years)
For info, I'm 5'10", 11st, mrs is 5'2" and 7.5st. So there may be problems stemming from the heavier sleepers out there.0 -
I have posted a few times about this mattress. I do not know if they are still being manufactured as last time I tried to contact them, they had closed down. For a very cheap mattress it is still comfortable and although it says no turn I have turned mine as support on one side was not quite as good. The reverse is slightly firmer, but still does a good job. I concur with the previous poster about the covering material it is not good enough and the tie throughs are too weak.
I am 6'2" and weigh around 15 st. so a bit heavier than some."0844 COSTS YOU MORE"0
