Like I said in an earlier post, maybe the non turn bit is a mistake.

Hi,
Still reading these bl**dy threads and I no longer know what to believe to be quite honest.
Tim getting booted, and conspiracy theories, and his wife's log on, and Chinese people with dodgy mattresses !!!!
All I wante dwas some friendly advice on buying a mattress, what is the world coming to eh ?!??!
So I am looking for some last second pointers, if anyone is out there. I still havea max budget of £400, I still want the best mattress I can get for the cash (obvioulsy). Fo me, assuming everything I have soaked up on here is actually worth knowing then going by the spec the best mattress out there for that money is teh Apollo Calypso .. it has 1500 springs and 50mm of v60 memory foam on both sides, and is 12" deep (one of the deepest out there)
That is according to the official pictiures and a certain kingdon of beds site.
If someone can just confirm I am making a good choice I will disappear off and make my long awaited purchase
Thanks

I felt exactly the same; I bought the Calypso; I am now happy. I just wanted to check back with the thread to help someone else reach the same conclusion.
Just buy it

I too bought the Apollo Calypso from Furniture of Style about 2 months ago.
I previously had a very expensive Sealy Matress which was incredibly good, this matress is as good if not better and less than 1 third of the price
My other half can't believe how comfy the bed is and stays round more than ever (bonus) therefore I am more than happy with it
Also FOS were very good, order process was easy and the delivery turned up as requested with very good communication allowing me to nip back from work to take delivery. I would definitely recommend them

I too have the calypso - had it about 2 years no problems very happy and it is comfortable. Mine too said no turn but is in fact double sided memory foam. Would reccommend:)0

Pinkypants wrote: »I think the clue is in you statement "it's got foam on both sides". I think you have a one sided non turn mattress that has Memory foam on one side and a lesser quality foam on the under, non sleeping side. Never has a double sided mattress say non turn. It's either one or the other. Turn or non turn."0844 COSTS YOU MORE"0

Just to update re. Apollo Calypso. Ordered this bed from Furniture of Style (cheapest). Unfortunately bed arrived with slight damage to base. This was collected promptly but due to re-ordering it was another 2 weeks before replacement. FofS advised to lay mattress on floor for sleeping and although strange was very comfortable. Used the polythene wrapping as a buffer between floor and mattress.
Base finally delivered and taken up to bedroom for us, which is not in the terms. Absolutely delighted with comfort of the bed and have turned it once already. However the covering on the mattress is fairly low quality and the base is cheaply made. But value for money is excellent and you cannot see the mattress anyway once the bed is made up so who cares!"0844 COSTS YOU MORE"0 -
Hi
Im looking at buying the Apollo Calypso. I was wondering if those who had bought it back in 2011 are still happy with it? And also how firm you found the mattress?
Any help would be great!0 -

Regarding my previous post on the Apollo Calypso, I wish to revise my opinion on this bed. The base is still fine, but this week, we stripped the mattress ready for rotating. Sad to say that down one side of the mattress the ties that hold everything in place, (think there are 3 rows of 4) anyway on one of the rows the ties have disappeared into the mattress. Plus there are several runs in the jersey fabric. This would not matter but also the mattress is not giving the same amount of support in the middle as it should. This has only been used for single use and is less than 2 years old. So on second thoughts it is not recommended."0844 COSTS YOU MORE"0
