Only being 8 miles apart from each other is just coincidence, there are many bed makers in the UK. I know of at least 4 that are only 6 miles ish from each other.
Who makes them? I'll take a look for you at the specs, if possible.Helping the country to sleep better....ZZZzzzzzzz0 -
Hi
Specs are as follows,
Apollo Calypso
1500 Individual Pocket Springs (some sites quote 1000)
•50mm Layer of Memory Foam on Both Sides
•Medium Comfort Support
•Hypo-Allergenic
•Luxury Four-Way Stretch Knitted Fabric
•Hand Tufted
•Side Stitched Borders
La Romantica Madrid
1000 pocket sprung mattress
• V60 memory foam topper on both sides
• Dual sleeping surfaces
• Visco elastic cover - four way stretch fabric
• 10” deep mattress (255mm)
• Hand tufted
These seem very similar to me, albeit from an un-qualified perspective. From browsing the forum it seems that a lot of members have purchased the Romantica from Mr Deegan and have been quite happy, however whenever anyone asks for an opinion on the calypso they are told it is an inferior product! Can it be that inferior if the specs are pretty much the same?
Any help / advice / reviews about either product would be appreciated.
Also if anyone could suggest an alternative double mattress which is good for around £300-£400 that would also be appreciated,
My wife and I can't take much more of our inherited 20yr old Silent Night.
Thanks

Hi Ciaran,
Looks like you're in the same situation as me, except i need to order one in the next 48 hours else i'll be bedless!
So, wondered if you made a decision in the end and if you're happy with it!?
Thanks0 -
Good luck getting a mattress delivered in 48 hours. Most companies promise such a thing, but very few will deliver said promise. Well done if they do.Helping the country to sleep better....ZZZzzzzzzz0

The answer I would have said without knowing about either mattress personally is The Calypso says memory foam, The Madrid states V60 foam, if the Calypso had half decent memory foam in it, I'm sure that would be worth putting in it's description.Helping the country to sleep better....ZZZzzzzzzz0

Sorry, i didn't mean i need the mattress delivered in 48 hours, i mean i want to order it before the end of Tuesday...The answer I would have said without knowing about either mattress personally is The Calypso says memory foam, The Madrid states V60 foam, if the Calypso had half decent memory foam in it, I'm sure that would be worth putting in it's description.
What does the V60 Memory Foam mean, and how does that differ from the standard?
EDIT: Incidentally, the site here (http://www.totalfurnishing.co.uk/catalogue--iID--200--The-Calypso-Memory-Foam--Mattress.php) says the Calypso is v60 too...0 -
V60 is the density of the foam itself, 60kg per m2. Memory foam does come in all sorts of densities, 55, 60, 80, 120 etc...
Generally the denser the foam the slower it will react. Also the denser the foam is the more solid as such it will feel as there is more foam in it. But you will still sink into it.
Which is Tim always asked to which memory foam was in any product questioned. If it doesn't state in the description of the product, it's usually because it's not very good foam. Strange that only 1 site that I have seen does actually say what grade of foam it is. But then again they may have made a mistake saying that it's V60.Helping the country to sleep better....ZZZzzzzzzz0 -
Says V60 in the official marketing images
Think i've made a decision on that now...0 -
No I didn't order it as yet but I think it is what I will go for. It is V60 foam on both sides and pocket sprung so should be quite comfortable0
