Anyone else annoyed at CH5 milkshake?

My little girl likes to watch milkshake in the mornings, particularly bopbox, peppa pig and the wot wots ( I like hana's help line :-) ). They used to have the presenter on doing the birthdays and stuff then go straight in to the programmes but now before every programme they have a polly pockets sponsor thing come on. I realize CH5 is a commercial station that has to advertise to make money but direct advertising aimed at young children before every programme is too much in my opinion. I would switch to cbeebies but she's not so interested in the shows on cbeebies. She doesn't watch much telly she's normally playing with her toys anyway but the adverts always seem to grab her attention.
Nothing to see here, move along.

It's the way of the world these days.

If it gets her attention, talk to her about it. If it doesn't, ignore it like she is.

You either watch the programmes and put up with Polly or switch to Cbeebies.

I fell out with Milkshake after they didn't show my twins birthday card, lol. I've sent on in to Cbeebies every year and they've always been shown, but this year they wanted a Peppa Pig one so I had to send it to Milkshake. It took me ages to make and it's the first yer the girls have sat and watched the announcements understanding what was going on. Back to Cbeebies for this year!

I'm not sure there would be much of a business model in showing completely irrelevant adverts?

Surely the whole idea of advertising is that it's targeted and thats the price you pay for having them deliver the content your kids love so much at no cost.

yea but directly marketing to children is just wrong they could have something for children but not aimed directly at children. She's too you to understand yet but there is no way she's going to own a polly pocket.

Gawd you have just reminded me I promised to do this for DD even though she is too old LOL
She's made a point that I have never done it before and it is her "last chance" :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
I wondered how likely they were to be shown, and how soon they have to go in?

Cbeebies have never let me down, they say they can't guarantee it will get shown, but I think they do show all of them that they get. Suppose some can get lost or whatever, but I've never known anyone who's sent one and not had it shown. They ask for 4 weeks in advance.

They say 4 weeks, but I think I've sent one in with 2 weeks to go. I just sent it next day to ensure it got there.

Turn it off then. If she's not even watching it then switch it off and let her play with her toys. Your house will be a Polly Pocket free zone.
